Hi everyone, well, I’ve been googling all day and I’m now driving myself mad. I am 40 + 4 Weeks pregnant with my second baby (My first was 10 days early so I’m currently in unknown territory) I have been having really quite painful cramps for weeks, mostly in the evenings, they almost feel like a contraction but last ages, 30 minutes even, possibly longer, before dying off for hours and then returning again in the middle of the night or the following day. I have also been getting tightenings in my tummy, like Braxton hicks and awful lightening pains right in my pelvis. Really quite painful. I mean not as painful as full blown labour but it takes my breath away. Anyway, I went to get a stretch and sweep today only to be told the baby wasn’t low enough! After having been told since 37 weeks that baby was really low/engaged even and could come any day it came as a bit of a shock. Totally fine about it, baby is ok and that’s all that matters but I’m just too excited to sleep, too uncomfortable to go anywhere, struggling to look after my almost 2 year old and just really want to know if anyone had experienced the same sort of thing and did the labour start spontaneously? I’m just really hoping I won’t need to be induced and it’s my Sons 2nd birthday in a week so I’m really hoping the baby will come before then so that we can celebrate. Any comforting words would be amazing!!

Sounds like things are definitely happening, just chill and give it a few more days :) (I know that’s easier said than done!)

My first came at 41+8 days after over a week of cramps and braxton hicks like you describe

I did lots of pregnancy yoga and spinning babies exercises, to limber up for the birth and it worked a treat! Quick 5 hour labour in the birth pool.

Now pregnant with DC2 and I don’t tell anyone my due date this time, as it’s a head fuck!!

Apparently in France babies aren’t even ‘due’ until 41 weeks.

Give the little one time, they will cook perfectly I’m sure of it, and let you know when they’re ready!! Xx
