Hi ladies,

Im Currently 16 weeks pregnant and because of my past history I had an early anomaly scan yesterday ( history includes heart defects in my stillborn son) .. all was great apart from baby was not in a good position and she told me the only organ she couldn’t fully assess was the heart( The one I was praying for some reassurance on )😩 she told me to come back on Monday and she will look At the heart again. Should I be worried? She said 16 weeks is very tiny still and she needs a good position of baby to see the heart images she needs... worrying there is something wrong now !* Has this happened to anybody else ? where the heart couldn't be seen properly and you had to go back.*

Happened to me but they couldn’t see her feet. Did lots of star jumps and walked around the hospital, cold drink etc and she wouldn’t move position. Went back within two weeks and had another scan and she had feet and legs and they could see them and measure them. Fingers crossed for your next scan :)

I had this. They couldn’t see the heart or the head. I was sent for a walk, made to jump up and down, the tilted the table back so my head was down but DD wouldn’t budge.
They scheduled me in for a second scan a week later and she was still in a difficult position for the head (she was head down, right in my pelvis, from very early on) but they managed to get all the info the needed and it was fine.

Obviously when I say they couldn’t see the head, they could see it! Just not in a way to get the measurements

Yeah I know what you mean! I’m now wondering what to do before the scan? Should I have w full day coke right before ? Or will they make baby too wild to get clear images

This happened to me - my 20 week scan was about 2 weeks ago, baby was in an awkward position and not moving, it was the heart and face they couldn't get a good enough view of so sounds very similar. I went back a week later and all was fine. I think they just need a very close, specific view to be able to rule out certain things - it doesn't necessarily mean they've seen anything to be concerned about. Good luck today.

I had this happen at my 20 week scan as my baby was in the wrong position. After a nerve-wracking week we went back and they were able to scan the heart and everything was fine. We now have a very cheeky 7 month old!

I’m sorry for your loss, hope the scan provides reassure today. My DS2 was hiding and I had to go back for them to look at his heart. DS3 his his face the whole pregnancy, didn’t show it once and I had lots of scans due to previous 3 DC small for gestational age. He showed his willy at every scan though Grin

I can’t remember what, but there was something b that they couldn’t see at my 16 week scan(maybe spine?) but all was seen and fine at 20 weeks.

Hi all. Thank you so much for the replies. The heart is looking good . Had the scan on Monday and the cardiologist said that the heart is so small
At this stage but from

Great news, glad all is well.

At my 20 week scan the baby was lying in an awkward position and they couldn't do all of the heart measurements. Went back two weeks later and they got everything they needed.

DeadButDelicious · 29/10/2020 10:49

Glad to hear it was good news OP. Thanks

I think I had 2 or 3 anatomy scans as DD2 just wouldn't get in the right position to see her heart properly, eventually she did shift herself and all was fine. It's worrying being pregnant after a loss (we lost our first DD, so I understand a little of where you are coming from) sending you every good wish.
