Anyone know what this is on my scan picture?

Hi,

I had my 12 week scan and noticed on the photos this large area on the bottom left, that looks like a large cavity. To me that doesn’t look normal. I have no seen this on any of my previous scans or anyone else’s.

I have had very complicated, problematic pregnancies previously, so I am more worried. The scan was pretty quick as they were very behind, more of just a quick measurement etc.

If anyone else this or not please comment, or has any idea what could be, would be a great help!

Thank you x x

Don’t worry, the white line in between the baby in its sac is your uterus wall so that black area is fluid elsewhere. Not easy to say where exactly as we’re not doing the scan but most likely your bladder, or possibly just in your abdomen between your organs.

Oh glad to hear! Thank you.
I was worried about my placenta etc. As I’ve had so many different problems in the past. I had six pictures, this is the only one that really shows this the rest don’t so was confused! Feel more relieved though now Smile

Can’t say for sure based on one image but it’s likely to be your bladder. Could also be air in the bowel (normal) but that’s less likely.

The green line is the wall of your uterus. The red line indicates your abdominal cavity.
Good luck with your pregnancy 👍

Ah it is a lovely scan picture op, so cute! Congratulations, wishing you a reassuringly dull pregnancy.

Thank you very much everyone! Very helpful and feel much happier now Smile can’t wait! I have my 16 week cervical length scan tomorrow anyways but just wanted to check about that before hand x
