West Midlands - partners at scans?

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone knows of any changes as I know some areas it has changed. Does anyone know if partners are now allowed to come to scans in the west mids? Birmingham specifically?

A couple of months ago I was told no but when I had an early scan at the EPU at the hospital, my partner was allowed into the scan.

My "12 week scan" is being done at a community centre along with bloods etc and not at the hospital? Not sure if this makes any difference ?

Every hospital is different. Does your hospital have a Facebook or Twitter page? They often post updates there.

I'm at Birmingham Women's Hospital and my DH has not been allowed in for any of my scans or appointments, I'm much further along than you - 34 weeks but haven't seen much chance of this changing with us going in to Tier 2. I've heard from women I know that Walsall are being a lot more leniant.

Im in walsall. Atm its only the 20 week scan that parents can go to. I have had 4 scans so far & my husband has not been allowed at any. 😔

Hi I went to the weoley castle community centre 2 weeks ago and they were just allowing partners in but literally only for the scan (they have to wait and came in through a back door)
That's under BWH so hope this helps. I'd call the community centre to check before hand x

No partners to any scans at Heartlands

My automatically generated letter said you could have someone with you but all the signs in the waiting room said no.

Warwick are allowing one partner at antenatal scans as long as you are from the same household.

I'm at Birmingham Women's and had my 20 week scan yesterday - they phoned me Friday to say there had been an update to their policy as they were allowing 1 person to attend with me. They just had to wait outside the hospital until I was called through to the room and then he could come in :)

@bumblebee2233 mines at the Frankley plus children's centre under the Weoley castle team.

Would this be the same as yours?

We have a private 12 week booked next Saturday so my partner can come as we hated the idea of him not being allowed in for the nhs one ( I'll be over 13 weeks by that point).

Thankyou all for the replies!

I'll ring the centre next week and see what they say!
