What can I do to help? I've got a support band and doing all the usual stuff like sleeping with a pillow between knees, swivelling, etc.

The pain is so bad. I can't sleep, I can't sit, I don't know what to do. The pain is inner thigh, outer thigh, in my bum cheeks, lower back, hips, pelvis and vagina

Short of taking paracetamol and ibuprofen all day for another 2 weeks, has any one got any ideas or tips?

No ibuprofen.

You could get gp to give you stronger pain meds.

You could wait it out.

You could see an osteopath or chiropractor who specialises in pregnancy. One list of recommended practitioners can be found on the pelvic partnership website.

Don't walk. Dont do anything that you find increases your pain levels above the normal level.

And just remember, it won't last forever.

Shouldn't be taking ibuprofen at 38 weeks. Though I could be wrong.

I have literally just seen an nhs physio for pgp. I'm 32 weeks. They mostly advised to use the support belt and try to avoid over doing it. Use a gym ball was another recommendation. You could ask for a referral but it took 4 weeks from me asking.to me seeing the physio. I asked at my 28 week app cause i could feel the pain getting worse and it was so bad in my last pregnancy i couldnt walk by the end. Not sure im actually being helpful but youre def not alone.

Hi - I’m 38 weeks too and on my second pregnancy with PGP

This pregnancy has been wayyyyyy better than last time though as I went through a full physio rehab program last year (my DC is 3.5) which also educated me as to how to handle it in my next pregnancy

Try to rest with either heat (my preference) or cold on the painful area, to get the spasms to calm down a little. Whichever feels right to you. Lying on my side in bed with full body pillow between my ankles and knees is my most comfortable position. Then I use hot water bottle or hair dryer on my pelvis!!

Another way to calm the spasms is GENTLE stretches. Listen to your body, try anything that feels good and take your time. Look at YouTube for Pregnancy yoga and PGP. Don’t expect miracles but if you can find 45 mins or so for this it can help a lot. I do some every night before bed when I can get some peace!! Move slowly and try to stay mainly on the floor

Spinning babies also has some great exercises to try

It feels scary to try and stretch, but I promise it’s what your tight muscles and ligaments need

Good luck - we haven’t got long to go :)

(I had a great birth last time despite the PGP - totally forgot about it in labour. Had dc at an MLU in a birth pool. Don’t labour on your back if you can avoid it. Recommend hypnobirthing if you haven’t already done any try the positive birth company videos, bargain at £39) x
