Hi, I had a flu jab on Wednesday & im 6+5.. I have a temp of 37.1, is it safe to take paracetamol during first trimester?

Have any of you taken it during your first 12 weeks??

I'm more concerned about the high temp harming the baby. Sad

Is the flue jab meant to cause a fever? I don’t know the answer. Call your local pharmacist for medication advice.

Personally I been told never to take ibuprofen and paracetamol is safe.

thetangleteaser · 16/10/2020 13:52

Is that a type OP? 37.1 is a completely normal temperature😊

You can take paracetamol but you don’t need to with a temp of 37.1!

typi*

Good god typo*

All my typos are the word bloody typo! Apologies for all the notifications!

Paracetamol is safe but 37.1 isn't a fever.

Spam88 · 16/10/2020 13:59

Also I have no idea of a fever is a side effect of the flu jab, but regardless, if you do get a temperature of 37.8 or above then you need to treat it as possible covid.

sepsisandAKI · 16/10/2020 14:08

37.1 is not a high temp as others have said. No need for paracetamol.

Csari · 16/10/2020 14:24

Hi @charisann93 I've recently had my flu jab and the pharmacist said a slight temperature is fairly common for a couple of day after and that paracetamol is fine.

lulupopss · 16/10/2020 14:28

I had mine yesterday and the pharmacist said I might get a fever.

charisann93 · 16/10/2020 14:28

Thank you all, my temp has risen to 37.5, and I've just taken 1 500mg paracetamol. I'm just really over worrying about everything and because my temp was 36.1 yesterday (normal) I panicked when it was this high today. I feel like having the flu jab has caused more issues than it's preventing!

thetangleteaser · 16/10/2020 14:56

Take another 500mg, 1g every 4-6 hours is the recommended dose😊 37.5 is higher side of normal so just recheck your temp an hour after paracetamol and just keep an eye. It’s not uncommon to have a small reaction to an immunisation, it’s not a live vaccine so it won’t have given you an illness, your body is just reacting to the injection. I always get a really hot, solid patch on my arms for a day or so after, al sounds very normal.

Spam88 · 16/10/2020 15:06

Tbh, I'd assume your measurement of 36.1 yesterday was wrong - I think that would be very low for an adult. My normal temp is 37.5 although I appreciate I run quite warm (comes in handy when I want antibiotics for a throat infection, less useful when they want to give my newborn baby a course of antibiotics because my temp was 37.5 during labour...).

Sls668 · 16/10/2020 15:10

My average temp is between 36.2-36.5 (I only know this because we have to have an average temperature known at work for all adults and children. However I wouldn’t worry if your temperature is 37.5 as that is around the average. I’d probably just step away from the themometer if I was you....

Turtleturtle81 · 16/10/2020 17:10

37.5 is a perfectly normal temperature. It’s not even classed as high, let alone a fever. The flu jab has definitely not caused “issues”

Funkypolar · 16/10/2020 20:11

I had projectile vomiting after mine, 12 times in 12 hours!

Disappointedkoala · 16/10/2020 20:15

My temp has been over 37 since I've been pregnant. It's partly what made me think I should take a test!
(My DD likes to play doctors a lot so she checks my temp at least 4 times a week, I'm not a thermometer fiend!)

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 16/10/2020 20:26

I was warned that the flu jab may give me a fever (it didn't fortunately) that said paracetamol is safe - I had to take a few doses in my first trimester due to migraines.

Grumpy19 · 16/10/2020 20:27

My midwife told me the flu jab was not a live vaccine so if you became I'll following it, you had something else brewing.

MiniMaxi · 16/10/2020 20:29

Normal temp is anything up to 37.8

You don’t really have to take paracetamol unless you feel crap to be honest

lastbany · 17/10/2020 05:49

Not sure what flu jab people are having but it's not a live vaccine 🤣🤣

Nimsay1 · 17/10/2020 06:48

37 is not even a high temperature, regardless of what your normal temperature is, and it's definitely not a fever.
