Glucose, ketones and blood in urine at 23 weeks pregnant

Last two weeks I was told at my routine antenatal clinic that I had ++2 in glucose and ketones. They referred me to the diabetes unit where I did the gtt which came back negative. Hubby bought ketones sticks and glucometer so we could check at home. It’s disheartening to say that the glucose level shoots up anytime I eat something with minimal carbohydrates. I must also add that I’ve not been eating as expected of a pregnant woman, but my appetite has abandoned me. I don’t crave for anything and I never get hungry. I saw my consultant two days ago and the midwives told me I also have +blood in my urine so they took blood and urine samples to the lab. I’ve not heard anything from them again, but even though sugar level is a bit low since yesterday (7.5mmol/l, ketone is neutral this evening. However I feel terribly sick, have headache ( which has been with me for a while) nausea and actually vomited this evening, but I attributed the vomiting to eating a can of tuna to prevent my poor husband from being worried.

I should also state that the tests to be conducted include liver functioning test, uti, the rest I don’t remember, but the consultant said if it all comes back negative, she would request for a kidney analysis. Now I’m worried sick as I’ve got this crazy feeling that I’m going to die. We’ve had 4 miscarriages and this baby is our rainbow baby. I wish they could speed up the tests, but I don’t know how long I’ve to keep waiting. Do you ladies think I should call my midwives or wait till the results come back?

Let me add that I drink about 4 litres of water everyday.

Let me also add that, on Monday when I saw the consultant, my ketone level was +++, but lower abdomen has been hurting, bone on my pubic area burst as well and I pee quite frequently, though not much.

Ps the picture attached is my ketone level as at 3pm today, but it’s negative now.

Type 1 diabetic here. Don't know much about GD but wondering if you're drinking 4 liters a day because you feel thirsty or to medicate yourself?

Too much drink can make you ill as well, but if you drink because you're thirsty it might be because your glucose is too high, making you pee more ang getting dehydrated.

Also, why do you feel that a 7.5 is low? Or do you mean lower tgan before?

Oh and if it helps to calm you down, I hit 13 easily a few days a week, admittedly for ashort time, and my baby is doing very well.

@rorosemary thank you for your reply. I drink 4 litres a day because 1. I’m naturally drink water and 2, I’ve not slacked because the midwives always give me this accusatory look of “you’ve not been living a healthy lifestyle. Lol. I pee less than I drink and my pee looks concentrated, has a foamy look and a dark yellow colour, the cons said it might be an infection but I don’t have the results of the tests conducted yet.

Also I said 7.5 was low because that was my best result in days 😀. However I’m pleased to say that even though I’ve slowly reintroduced small amounts of carbohydrates into my diet, the ketones level is negative and the glucose level hasn’t been above 6.5mmol/l. It’s the trace of blood in the pee that gives me headaches
. Hopefully I would have the results soon to allay my fears. Bless you.

And hey for the first time I saw my belly button moving as baby was moving. Finally felt her and we are exactly 24 weeks today with anterior placenta.
