If you breastfed when did you buy your breastpump and start pumping? And how many bottles did you buy?

I EBF and haven't pumped yet, DD is 4m old. I expressed using the Hakka during her first week and topped up bf with bottles until she gained her birth weight back. Haven't pumped or expressed due to lock down - no need to leave her with anyone. However from talking to my NCT group I think I'm fortunate/unusual in that.

Whenever we needed something we busted ordered from Amazon next day delivery.

I'm hoping to start expressing soon so dd can get used to a bottle and get dad can help out but we've been fine bf. Appreciate I'm very lucky though

Started around 2 weeks as due to terminally ill family member I occasionally had to leave DC very early on for short periods. Never had a problem with supply or her taking a bottle as a result even if it was once or twice a week. Used Medela pump & bottles, think I had 3 bottles but also froze milk in bags in case of emergency!

I had a Haakaa from day 1 with DC 2. I got an agent pump about a week after birth with DC1.

With DC1 I got a starter kit that had 2 or three bottles, hand pump and steriliser.

I combi fed my eldest but ended up having to use specialist formula for those bottles.

With my second, I didn't express or use bottles. She didn't like them and I didn't need to

Had to express from day 5 to try and stimulate milk to come in (baby readmitted with dehydration). Used hospital pump in SCBU and then own pump at home. Gave up pumping after two weeks as it didn't increase supply and just extra stress. Combi-fed for first year about 50/50 BF/FF. Pumped at work a couple of times when I returned at 12 months just to make sure I didn't leak. I'm not sure the pump was worth it TBH.
As for bottles. We had a sample Lansinoh one that I'd received when pregnant so used that. Baby got on well with it so bought some more. Never had a problem switching between breast and bottle (did 3-4 formula bottles a day). I wouldn't buy a pack of bottles initially until you know whether the baby gets on ok with them

I got a haakaa probably a week in to help relieve engorgement. Started expressing bottles worth to try and bottle feed at 6 weeks, which was unfortunately too late for us and she would never take a bottle despite trying regularly!

5 days post birth due to weight loss but stopped after he regained it. Then I pumped from 16 weeks onwards every day only due to the fact i went back to work. I say you avoid a pump where possible, they're OK but it's much easier just to bf. I was definitely sick of seeing my pump at 12 months 😂.

Also as above, if you're going to mainly feed and express just a little then a hakka is way better and more convenient.
