Hey ladys,

What were your first signs of labour and how long did it take to go into active labour? I am 39 weeks and the past 2 days I have been experiencing bad period cramps on and off but very sporadically.

Did anyone else get this before labour itself? I have a feeling I am going to be late as my bump is very high and baby has not yet engaged but hoping these pains are a sign of something ..

Thanks

My waters broke at midnight, I went in to be checked I was having contractions on the monitoring but couldn't feel them. They started at 3 am ish baby born before lunch. This was 38+6 at my last midwife check at 38 +2 head wasn't engaged and my bump was high, I had feet in my ribs all through labour so I don't think it was ever going to drop

I’ve been getting period type pains, mild ones on and off too. I’m 38+2. Midwife says it’s early labour, she’s given me some essential oils for reflexology and I’ve been on my ball! They were strongest I’ve had last night but nothing yet today! They are talking about induction on due date so want to get things moving before then 😂

Period pains getting increasingly stronger and more regular over about 10 days thena bloody show. Labour started 24 hours later with mild contractions and about 15 hours later I went to hospital. DD was born 12 hours later at 38+6
Sounds like it’s starting for you.

Hi OP I’m 39 weeks today too, and posted a similar question a couple of days ago! I’ve had mild period pains on and off for a few days now. Having googled it seems to be so variable, some people have that on and off for a week or so.

41+4 exactly like period pains. No show, no waters. Started with period pains 3am active labour by 10pm. Although I wasnt examined for 9 hours from 1pm-10pm and went from 3-7cm. Could have been having gas and air from 4cm but apparently I wasn't progressing 🙄

Thanks for all your replies Ladies! Mine have tailed off now so doesnt seem like it's going to happen soon! Sad. Yes definitely looks like it varies. I saw my midwife today and she says it is common.
