Any hope? Does cramping/bleeding always mean miscarriage?

This is my first pregnancy and I am now very worried.

I am 9 weeks 5 days and started bleeding yesterday. It’s not light but not very heavy either, bright red. No clots yet.

It’s the pain that is bothering me. From googling it sounds a lot like how others have described contractions or my cervix opening, I was doubled over with it earlier and it seemed to be working up to a crescendo...then nothing. It stopped.

I had a hastily booked private scan on Monday which saw a heartbeat and a baby measuring right for dates.

Any hopeful stories where you’ve had that kind of pain and bleeding and everything has been fine? I’m aware I’m grasping at straws but have nothing else to do until DH comes back.

Yes apparently a bit of bleeding throughout pregnancy is actually very normal! I was talking about this with some friends the other day but of course when it happens it always panics you! Have you had any more bleeding since your scan?

Obviously it’s always worrying but it’s not necessarily bad news.... just wanted to give you some reassurance Flowers

Nope

Ive bleed and cramped in both of my pregnancies...
DS is 5 and im 13+3 pregnant.

Its terrifying to see, but doesnt always mean its over.

Good luck x

Thank you, my friends had reassured me about the bleeding (one of them bled very heavily around 12 weeks and all was well) but everything I’ve seen online about the awful cramps didn’t seem like good news at all.

Yes the bleeding is still ongoing and bright red, though the cramps have stopped.

It’s enough to need a pad but it is only showing 5p sized spots on it.

Have you contacted your midwife, they should be able to advise better

I had bleeding and bad cramps until around 14 weeks, and the cramps stayed on and off until around 22 weeks. I had an early scan around 7 weeks which showed everything was fine. Baby dd is now sleeping next to me as I type this!

I know lots of women who've bled through pregnancy, would this be your usual time of the month for a period? Sometimes your body automatically starts to bleed a little bit around that time... I'd deffo call your midwife or EPU and let them know, hope all goes well x
