I'd pack fairly light. My baby and I were both kept in hospital for a week due to various unexpected complications which is obviously one of the less desirable outcomes, but after our first night my DH just popped home to grab more stuff. And by that time we'd met the baby so we knew what size she was which made it all fairly simple.

So if you do end up having to stay in for a while then just ask them bring a few bits for you. Makes it all a lot easier.

Pack of 3 sleepsuits is fine, don't take anything fiddly, you will be tired and won't be wanting to bother with them. Remember hospitals are hot

I knew I would be in for 3 days so packed 6 vests and sleepsuits (2 per day). I had 5 asda first size and 1 0-3 months.

Mine was 6lb 13 and the first size clothes were on the big side but not ludicrously big and she is still wearing them 8 weeks later at 9lb 8. In my opinion first size will be fine for the few days you are in hospital from 6lb 8 to 9lbs 8. if you are the lower or higher end you will probably want to have the appropriate next size when you get home. So unless you are expecting a tiny or big baby I would stick with first size /1month and get clothes brought in if you unexpectedly fall into these categories
