I'm awake at 5am lol can't sleep and this crossed my mind (typical pregnant women😂) I stopped taking prenatals not because I don't want to take them but I can't find any good ones that my body agrees with I was taking pregnacare but it made me feel sick sometimes... I feel guilty that I don't take any and even my midwife said I should so I am going to buy some this week but is there any good/cheap brands that has all the good nutrients in I'm 25weeks x

Yes I’m 38 weeks and I’ve taken them all the way through.

theresaplaceforus · 04/10/2020 05:42

I take pregnacare Max

PolarBearStrength · 04/10/2020 05:47

How many weeks are you? If you’re over 12 weeks and your diet is okay, you really only need vitamin D. A generic vitamin D tablet is very cheap from any pharmacy and shouldn’t cause any stomach upsets.

I didn’t take any vitamins at all for the first 4-5 months as I was so sick and swallowing tablets was guaranteed to make me vomit. It’s not ideal but far worse has happened.

Yep 36 weeks and taken them throughout in case my diet hasn't been sufficient for baby

eggontoast2 · 04/10/2020 06:08

Healthspan vitamins were good. I took them in my first pregnancy. I then took pregnacare in my second and still taking the leftover ones whilst breastfeeding. Worth taking if you think your diet may be lacking.

aToadOnTheWhole · 04/10/2020 08:24

I take mine at night right before I go to sleep because that way I sleep through any off colour feelings. It's made a huge difference to my ability to take them Grin

I felt ill every time I took them in the morning in my first pregnancy, so it ended up sporadic. The Tesco ones were the least worst.

I'm on pregnacare now which with DS1 made me seriously nauseous.

Curlsandpearls · 04/10/2020 08:27

I found the seven seas ones easier to stomach than pregnacare no idea why as they are pretty much the same in content.

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 04/10/2020 08:27

I take seven seas.

Prenatal as in pre pregnancy? Did you mean this or pregnancy vitamins?

You can get pregnancy vitamins in liquid form.

MaryMashedThem · 04/10/2020 08:36

I took them for the first 12 weeks and then just took cheap vit D after that. @PolarBearStrength is right - the official recommendation has changed and you no longer need to take them all the way through. www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/vitamins-minerals-supplements-pregnant/
There is some research IIRC (I'll look for it if you're interested) that suggests a link between the old advice to take folic acid throughout pregnancy and high rates of tongue tie. (Although I stopped at 12/40 and still had a tongue tied baby so 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Prenatal as in pre pregnancy? Did you mean this or pregnancy vitamins?

Prenatal means pre-birth, i.e. during pregnancy. Same as antenatal.

JTB123 · 04/10/2020 11:59

I would just take vitamin D if you're struggling! Boots do a £4 vitamin D gummy pack - black currant flavour and they're lovey 👌🏼

JTB123 · 04/10/2020 12:00

I also take it at bedtime so I can sleep through any off feelings! Not had any issues since I swapped to this x

Funkypolar · 04/10/2020 14:16

They make me vomit so I’ve given up on them.

Cheeseoncheese · 04/10/2020 15:48

Pregnacare did not agree with me but have taken Boots own all through with no problems and they're much cheaper.

Mysa74 · 04/10/2020 15:50

I bought the yes o own brand ones, all my blood results were good Smile

Mysa74 · 04/10/2020 15:51

*Tesco

Oneandabean · 04/10/2020 16:51

I take pregnacare max, I’m 23 weeks. I’ll take them all the way through. but the Superdrug own brand ones are good too. Make sure you are taking them with meals, with my first pregnancy vitamins made me ill unless I took them with food.
