HG - do I need to go to A&E?

My meds aren’t working today. I’ve been sick 5 times. It’s not stopping and there’s quite a bit of bright red blood. I can’t keep water down, I can’t sleep because my throat is so sore. I feel like I can’t cope.

I didn’t want this to go unanswered - it sounds desperate. I’m not an expert in HG, but it might be worth calling 111 to see what they say? I’m sure they wouldn’t mind seeing you in A&E, but I can imagine you don’t really want the Covid risk. Has your doctor told you to seek urgent further attention if the meds don’t work? Poor you.

Thank you for replying, yes I’m desperate. Sad

I’m staying at my parents as DH is working away and I feel quite alone! I’ll try 111 and see what they advise.

I’m glad you’re with someone even if they are asleep. See what 111 says, and even if they don’t suggest A&E make an emergency appointment tomorrow to review your medication. If they do suggest A&E, pack a small bag in case you are admitted for a drip etc - and remember your phone charger!

Vomiting blood sounds dangerous, OP. I hope you’ve called 111. I don’t have any medical expertise but I think you need to be checked over. Good luck.💐

What meds are you on?
Have you got ondansetron and cyclizine?
Ondansetron is the game changer and if already on it then you need some IV - hospital.
You also need to be omeprazole.
And docusate to poop.
Try to sip fluid, room temp is easier to keep down that cold even though you may crave cold. Fizzy water or coke also sometimes easier. Solids can also be easier to keep down - think jelly, custard, yoghurt, mashed potato.
Stay really still propped up slightly or flat if that position is easier.
Lie on your left, not your right - right will make it all come back into your oesophagus.
Try not to be too empty - it's makes it worse.
Honestly it gets better.
I'm up for the middle of the night hunger cravings which will turn into sick if I don't eat. 23 weeks and although it's never gone away fully I can manage it now. (although roll on 40 weeks!)
Look at pregnancy sickness support if you haven't already.

And lots of love.
It's just awful, if you've not been there you've got no idea.
