Sore throat could it be strep throat?!

Everyone in my house had a cold thankfully it wasn't covid or nothing serious but they all started out with a sore throat now I have a sore throat and saw two white spots on my tonsillitis and scared it could be strep throat my throat is not painful and I can swallow fine its just a annoying feeling I'm going to call my Gp tomorrow just to make sure what are your advices pls ? x

I’ve had strep throat a few times. Strep throat comes on suddenly, sometimes as quick as a few hours or less . And sometimes overnight . That’s been my experience at least . There is no cold associated with it . I will have no symptoms , feel perfectly fine and then bam 💥 suddenly an insanely sore throat shows up out of the blue. Swollen glands are also common . And I always got white spots too . Swallowing is excruciating 😖! I hope this helps !

I currently have a cold right now and an excruciating sore throat . But I’m 99% sure it’s not strep as it started as a cold first and came on gradually . I don’t have white spots this time but I have before in the past with regular sore throats . I never understood what the white spots were 🤷‍♀️

It could be acid? I had a really bad painfully sore throat from around 8 weeks onwards. I also had white dots on my tonsil area and GP prescribed me antibiotics. I took them but they did nothing. Went to GP again (different doctor) and she said it could be acid, she prescribed my Gaviscon and that did the trick. Had to knock back quite a few bottles throughout pregnancy.

Ugh - I have the same. Out of nowhere! Think it could just be from being run down as DC1 is sleeping really badly, but let's see how it looks in the morning. I figure there's not much to be done except ride it out in any case. Hope you feel better soon.

I had strep throat during my first pregnancy. It’s caused by strep A which is not the same as group B strep. I had a course of antibiotics and it cleared up quickly. No issues.

@RMarieClaire if it’s strep throat you can’t ride it out 😭! You need antibiotics to get rid of it!

Oh god, didn't realize that. I have never really taken antibiotics. I feel better this morning so think it's just glands coming up when I'm tired. Hope you're feeling better OP

This morning I woke up and was really stuffy and when I blowed my nose it was green so I'm guessing I just have a viral infection (cold) coming on unfortunately

I can still swallow fine with my sore throat it's not painful and it's not as red as yesterday so I'm hoping (fingers crossed) it's not strep throat Bec I would probably be in more discomfort
