30 weeks and baby could come any minute - need a hand hold

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I have been leaking amniotic fluid for 2 weeks but I also have too much fluid (Polyhydramnios) which is all a bit confusing. I have antibiotics, I need iron tablets and just been told today I have group B strep as well. I will be going in next week for another scan and to test for gestational diabetes. I was hoping to make it to 36 weeks but midwife said today to pack my hospital bag and be prepared he could come as early as next week. Anyone have anything similar or a preemie and have positive stories?

Sounds like you’ve got a lot going on. I’ve not had any similar experience but didn’t want to leave your post I answered and thought I’d give it a bump. Hope you are doing ok

How are you doing this morning?

No experience but here for a hand hold Thanks
How are things today?

Not for the same reason but I was told to expect my baby anytime from 24 weeks. I also had Group B strep. Baby born at 32 weeks, perfectly healthy. They think the reason I actually went in to labour was the Group B Strep. I developed a temp and chills etc at the same time as the onset of labour. I needed antiBs for a few days after the birth.
Ultimately all was well but it was a very stressful time and I don’t envy you.
In hindsight I wish I had accepted an offer of a tour of the neonatal unit, which was pretty daunting to begin with, but actually a very comforting place to be by the time we left (after 3 weeks).

I'm feeling better today thanks for asking, just trying to remain positive. I'm hoping the doctors and midwives are just being over cautious in preparing me that he could come as early as any time now.

@Doyouwantanothercuppa I just found out yesterday I have group b strep as well, hope that doesn't make him come earlier. Glad to hear everything is great with your little one and it's great he was only in for 3 weeks. I read somewhere that they're normally in until 2 weeks before due date but obv wasn't the case for you. Are you in the UK? Was only one person allow in at a time to visit? Also how long was you allowed to stay? Sorry for all the questions

Yes I’m in the UK but baby was born a year ago so I’m not sure if the visiting arrangements might have changed now. If you give your local neonatal unit a ring I’m sure they’d be able to advise you.
From what I gathered the earliest a baby would go home is around 35weeks. That’s the age they learn how to suckle. Prior to this they need to be fed by a tube so they need to be in hospital for that.
When I was pregnant I read a fantastic book by Tommy’s baby charity called something like ‘Having a premature baby’ which helped to answer a lot of questions.
