Lower abdomen pain during 2nd trimester

Helppp!Confused I get a sharp kind of tight feeling in my lower abdomen on the right side. It’s worse in the morning and find it hard to get out of bed but i do sometimes get it during the day as well but not as bad. I’m assuming it’s round ligament pains but didn’t know if it was something to worry my midwife about? Did anyone else get this pain? What can I do to stop the pain?

I started to get this around 10 weeks - I was having regular private scan scans as having twins and every time I mentioned it I was told it's normal and round ligament pain and not to worry x

@Sinead543 I find I get this if I lay too much on my bump in the night. I toss and turn in the night. I’m 16 weeks and have quite a bump already, I really need to dig out my pregnancy pillow

It's round ligament pains, often worse when trying to get out of bed first thing it's very common xx

I forgot to mention I’m 17 weeks.
I’m glad to hear that other people have experienced this. It’s the fact that it’s hard to get out of bed and walk first thing in the morning and SO painful, that’s what was worrying me. I’ll have to invest in a pregnancy pillow see if that helps.
Any other tips? Does this go away anytime soon or not until after birth?

@Sinead543

My bump is very painful. I can just about manage to walk DD to school which is about a 45 min round trip but then I'm on sofa/bed rest for the rest of the day. Any long car journeys or being on my feet too much means a really painful bump too (I'm 18 weeks with twins) x

Got me my ligament pain was worse around the 16-20 weeks mark as now I'm in the third trimester I think my body is now so big and stretched it no longer hurtsGrin where as I think the second trimester your body is changing a lot. It'll probably just ease over the next few weeks unless it develops into full blow spd and then you'll probably get extra advise/physio from the hospital. Smile
