Calling all tall women & ladies who didn't show until the last few weeks!

How long did it take for you to "bounce back" if you did at all? I'm 28 weeks, 5ft 8 and still just look like I just need a poo. A lot of people don't believe how far gone I am!

I'm expecting to pop suddenly at 30-34 weeks as that's what happened to my mum but just wondering what the aftermath will be like? My friend was small throughout and was back into her jeans after 10 days which is crazy!!!!

I'm only 23 and baby wasn't planned so I know I sound vein and shouldn't care or worry about my post baby body but unfortunately I do, so just wondered what everyone's experiences are?!

No shitty comments please, as I said I understand this should be the last of my concerns but it is what it is Smile

I’m 6ft and with my first pregnancy I was back into pre-preg jeans within a month or so. This time I’m thinking it won’t be the same as bump significantly bigger and have gained more weight ☺️

@Foreverbaffled omg that's amazing! So weird how it all works isn't it, I'd have never thought height would've came into it at all until someone mentioned it to me. Congrats on your pregnancy!

5ft 11 here and could have walked out of the hospital in pre pregnancy jeans, my stomach went back to normal size staight away it just felt smooshy for awhile!

Foreverbaffled · 23/09/2020 14:59

Thank you! Congrats to you too :) The only downside of being tall and pregnant is that sometimes your bump can measure quite small on their fundal height charts. I ended up having a growth scan at 36 weeks last time but baby was fine. Just more room for it to lay out!

My mum is only around 5ft3 but left hospital in jeans after having me (only child).
I’m 5ft 6/7 so pretty average and I’m generally slim then had hyperemesis so didn’t even weigh what I did pre-pregnancy till 6 months in, so most people thought I was ‘earlier’ than I actually was. I didn’t really put on any weight on my arms/legs/face etc but my bump got relatively big towards the end. Proper beach ball under the t shirt look.
Neither me or my mum got stretch marks.

It’s all luck / genetics though, you can be short with a massive bump and no stretch marks, tall with a tiny bump and loads of stretch marks. Having a csection can result in a bit of an ‘overhang’ that can be difficult to get rid of regardless of size before and after.
For some people, breastfeeding helps the weight loss and others put it weight on.
You really can’t tell how things will go.

Left hospital in pre preg jeans/dress for all 3. No awkward stage where I still had a bump, it just disappeared. Don't think that's common though as the midwives were amazed.

testingtimes123 · 23/09/2020 15:18

I was in my jeans after a week, although still was flabby and wore a baggy top.
I'm 5'8, was able to easily hide bump til 24weeks, was measuring on the small side around 34 weeks, had growth scan & baby fine.
Depends on feeding, if breastfeeding weight drops off, more so after a few weeks when milk supply settles. I was probably below my pre pregnancy weight around 2-3 months when baby constantly cluster feeding, despite me eating loads.

5ft 9 and I had a tiny bump and was normal sized very quickly.

DD was only 6lbs though, which may have been part of it.

mintbiscuit · 23/09/2020 15:27

5 ft 9 and had my first at 25. Flat stomach after birth (though felt like jelly!) Midwives were shocked. Stomach was firm after month or 2?

Subsequent births in my 30s my stomach did not spring back as quickly!

Everybody is different but I’m 5ft10 and had a 6lb baby at age 35 I was back to normal for my yoga classes 6 weeks post c-section. I did have washboard abs pre pregnancy which I think helped. Full disclosure they were not washboard at 6 weeks but my tummy was flat by then.

chubbyhotchoc · 23/09/2020 16:17

5ft 10 and 30+3 here 50th centile. It's my second. Not a particularly big or small bump I don't think

Strokethefurrywall · 23/09/2020 17:21

5ft 8" here and both babies were small (6lbs) - I'd put on 20lbs and remember I'd lost 17lbs within the first 4 days.
Returned to pre-preg shape/size within a week or two, except for my big nursing boobs.

OnNaturesCourse · 23/09/2020 19:24

With my first I was like you, very petite bump and nothing obviously pregnant until 35 weeks or so. I put on 15lbs, had a 7.4lb baby and walked out the hospital the next day in my pre pregnancy trousers. Was back in my skinny jeans the next week.

I'm 20 weeks now and still in my normal jeans, just, but have lost weight and not gained so definitely all bump...but bump is huge this time round and I'm more rounded all over. I doubt I'll be bouncing back this time!
