Bleeding at 38 weeks (not a show), anyone else have this experience?

Hi all, I was admitted early this morning as I woke up to very mild period pain and noticed blood in my underwear. After having a wee the water was very pink and after putting a pad in there was a good streak. Definitely more on the fresh red side. I was kept in for a few hours with no further bleeding, but I've just noticed a touch more (been home about 7 hours now). I'm also having stomach tightenings with back pain at the same time, ranging between every 6 - 30 minutes which only really started once I left the hospital.
The hospital didn't really say what it was, just seemed happy that it had stopped and let me go home. Anyone else experience similar bleeding around this time? I was on the lookout for it being more mucus like in terms of a bloody show, and they didn't think it was a show either.

Call them now - if the bleeding has returned they need to know ASAP x

I think you should call back and let them know. Do they know about the tightening? Keep all your pads to show them.

Do you know where your placenta is? If it’s low please ask about vasa previa, it’s often missed (mine was on 8 occasions).

Call the hospital - better to be safe than sorry. I had bleeding with my contractions and even though they were still far apart I was still asked to come in to be checked

I had a similar experience at 40 weeks; monitored in triage, found to be having tightenings and was kept in / induced later that evening. Although they never determined the cause of my bleed, and there are many possibilities, in my case it was probably a vascular cervix and harmless. Still, they didn't want to take any chances.
I would call them back and let them know about the pains asap.
