When’s best to tell work

First time poster here - long time lurker :)

My partner and I recently got our BFP and are now 8 weeks along, we have a private scan booked for 5th October as we were told by the midwife that partners can’t attend the NHS ones.

In light of Covid, we’re not sure if I should tell my work a little earlier than I normally would. I’m still working from home currently (other than completing site visits to people’s houses a couple of times a week) but my work are imminently sendings me back to the office full-time and not to mention dreading going back to the daily 2hr commute I’m also a little nervous about the Covid implications.

Anyone got any advise? :)

I told my work straight away but I am a teacher. Part of the reason I told them so early was because it was part of the risk assessment that staff would keep the headteacher aware of any changes that may make them higher risk. This was back in June and RCOG guidance has changed for pregnant women since but I don't think there is much harm in letting them know, as long as you are comfortable to do so.

I found out i was pregnant the second week of lockdown. I told my manager as soon as i found out we were going to be opening for key families soon and she was working out who to bring back (i work in a nursery). That was before my 12 week scan.
