Help! Fading hpts and no idea how pregnant I am

I know that the only person who can give me answers is my GP (seeing her tomorrow) but I am curious if anyone out there can offer any insight.

First of all, I have an 8 month old who is EBF and I haven't had a period since he was born. I was on the mini pill and feeling a bit funky and while I put it down to the hormones in the pill, my DH encouraged me to do an early detection HPT. To our shock it was a clear positive. This was on the 30th of August.

It was a little fainter than my last pregnancy so I tested again the next day - a little fainter and fainter the day after and then I got a negative. I assumed it was a chemical and went on my merry way on a 2 week holiday and got a couple more negatives.

Fast forward to now, still no spotting or bleeding and full blown pregnancy symptoms continue. Nausea, bloating, sensitive nipples and irrational crying. Also I did another hpt a few days ago and I think there was still the faintest line.

What is going on? Could I just be amping up to a really horrendous first period? I am expecting a chemical but what about a blighted ovum? Surely not the hook effect (just learned that was a thing).

Thoughts please?
