Bleeding and cramping at 5 weeks. Positive stories please?

Hi all, I'm struggling here. Started as a light pink spotting that has progressed to a moderate bright red flow with some very tiny clots and a lot of lower back pain and period cramps. I'm on day 6 of this now. I'm not naive, I had a miscarriage earlier this year and I'm aware what the signs point towards. But I don't have my scan until Wednesday so I need to keep positive until then or I'll drive myself crazy. Anyone experienced this and it turned out okay?

Hi @Bazshaz, I can only imagine how stressful this must be for you. I haven't experienced it myself but from scrolling though some of the other topics on Mumsnet it appears many others have and have had a positive outcome. I hope the time flys past until Wednesday and you have good news xx

I agree with Tinks, I would call EPU and try and get an earlier scan. Wednesday seems quite long when you are currently bleeding.

I had this twice. First time: miscarriage. Second time: healthy baby.

I had bleeding (red blood) and pain early in this pregnancy at 5+6. It turned out to be a UTI and all was fine. Am 11 weeks now.

However, I've had bleeding in other pregnancies and it's been a miscarriage.

I agree with other posters, to try and get an earlier scan - it's a long time for you to wait in limbo after 6 days.

@kwastell can't believe I didn't make that connection.. I had a UTI turned kidney infection a few weeks before I got pregnant and my biggest symptom was lower back pain and (TMI) I'm peeing like crazy again. Hopefully it might be that?

I've called EPU every day for a week to report my symptoms and ask for an earlier scan and no such luck :/ they're refusing to see me before 6 weeks. Offered a doctor to check my cervix but I won't know for certain until the scan and I don't want any unnecessary poking around.

@Bazshaz that's a hopeful sign then - fingers crossed it's the UTI. Hopeful doesn't feel like the right word - but can't think how to say it better.
