Anyone ever told they had enlarged red blood cells during pregnancy?

Dr that has seen me today has said that my red blood cells are slightly enlarged and they will have to keep an eye on them.

He asked me if I'd been drinking alcohol as apparently this can be a cause!! (I haven't, at all!).

He said it can sometimes be common in pregnancy and is not yet at a problem stage so they will just keep an eye on it.

They didn't say anything more. Has anyone else had this?

Can be related to folate and vitamin b12 levels, have they mentioned that at all? Assume he was meaning macrocytosis. Are they planning to recheck for you in a few weeks?

Keep your nutrient, B12, folate and iron levels up. New RBC and reticulocytes are larger than average ( counter-intuitively RBC shrink as they age) so macrocytosis is often secondary to a resolving anaemia, especially during pregnancy. This means that the reticulocytes are converted into RBC sooner than expected and the cellular development stops being able to keep up.
Eat well, keep your nutrient levels up. Don't worry: it's an easy fix.
