I am now officially on mat leave and have bought some clary sage oil. My question is, what do I do with it? :D

I bought an essential oil diffuser for and essentially hot boxed myself. Didn't work though!

I put it in the bath when I was overdue.. just caused some painful contractions and back ache and that was about it 🙄after seeing so many positive outcomes online I was devastated as I was so bloody uncomfortable .. also my waters broke 4 days overdue and still didn't arrive until 3 days after that by emergency c section ( hospital told me I'd wet myself when I told them my waters had broke 🤨)

Forgot to say only a few drops of you do decide to put it in the bath not the whole bottle! Congratulations and good luck!

Thanks for the feedback ladies. Definitely mixed experiences! I've read you have to mix it with a carrier oil?

Yes, you must dilute with a carrier if it's going on your skin. Also, don't use if you've been drinking alcohol, as it can cause strange hallucinogenic dreams etc. Although, as you're pregnant, I'm sure that isn't relevant for you!

Oneandabean · 04/09/2020 21:32

Are you allowed to use it when pregnant now? I had my DD1 9 years ago and it was one of the things I was told I must not use throughout any stage of my pregnancy. Now pregnant with DC2 and everything seems to have changed

Doyoumind · 04/09/2020 21:36

I assume you are using it to bring on labour? You should be careful if that isn't the plan. If you mix a few drops with a bit of milk it will mix better in bath water.

Chanel05 · 04/09/2020 21:46

I'm 38+3 and planning to use it at 39 weeks. If used in a bath, does it need another oil to dilute it? If used to rub on skin, what would the ratio be?

I just chucked in the bath one morning and carried a tissue with it on all day. Didn’t use anything else.
I went into labour that night!

Doyoumind · 04/09/2020 22:21

Don't mix it with a carrier for the bath as it will just sit on the water and not mix. Use milk.

If you are putting it on your skin it would be something like 2 drops to a teaspoonful of carrier oil maximum.

I tried it...along with bucket loadspd raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, sex and bouncing on a gym ball. Dc1 was a week late...had to be yanked out by emergency forceps after a very long labour. With dcs 2 and 3 I didn’t bother!

All it ever did for me was being on a load of highly uncomfortable braxton hicks contractions and made me heave as it stinks of wet dog!

Breadandroses1 · 04/09/2020 22:37

I sniffed it for a few hours (which gave me strong Braxton hicks) then had a bath with it the next morning which sent me into 'proper' labour. I was 5 days over though so it probably just kick-started something that was almost ready to go.

Breadandroses1 · 04/09/2020 22:38

Oh, just remembered I massaged it on my bump- with a carrier oil- as well, which also gave me strong BH.

Chanel05 · 05/09/2020 17:12

I'll give it a try
