@Metallicalover, @TattyMcBab and @kwastell, thanks for sharing your stproes and congrats =)

A quick question for everyone, did you dtd every day in your fertile window or every other? Also does the time of day make a difference? Cos we dtd every day in my fertile window last month and nothing =(

Probably not what you want to hear, but I'm currently 16+4 after 5 and a half years TTC and 2 missed miscarriages...

Houndabouttown · 05/09/2020 08:31

@Luckylola12

Frequency of DTD depends on sperm count. If your DHs is normal then as much as possible during fertile window. If not, then sometimes it’s advisable to DTD less frequently.

Do you know why you have to wait a month for these tests to be done? Usually GP just gives you a pot and you arrange it with hospital lab?

Daffodil21 · 05/09/2020 08:38

@Luckylola12 have you read it starts with the egg? The author explains that sometimes we release an egg which has chromosome abnormalities so it would never get fertilised no matter how many times you dtd and time it right.

@kwastell thank you! I don't live near Manchester - can I ask how many times you had to go there? Hopefully there's somewhere similar closer by.

@Ttcjourney2019 thanks for sharing the link - very helpful :)

Luckylola12 · 05/09/2020 08:39

@Houndabouttown i called them yesterday and for some reason that was the earliest the hospital could book us in. We have the pot just have to wait till then to give it to the hospital! This will be his second test, his first one said slightly below average but nothing too concerning. Hes in the process of quitting somking and drinking so hoping that will help!

@Daffodil21 no i havent read that! Is there a treatment for such a thing? Good luck on your ttc journey btw. I have hope for both of us if we stay positive =) i wish i was one of those that would just relax and not try so hard and then get my bfp. But its so hard not to stress and get obsessed with it all x

But ive always been bought up eating healthy etc. But my DH is trying ti lose weight as he is over his ideal weight, maybe that will help us too =)

@Luckylola12 you can take various supplements to improve egg quality such as COQ10

kwastell · 05/09/2020 09:06

@Daffodil21 because it was to get a prescription to maintain the pregnancy it was just 1 appointment over video call. She prescribed medication based on my history of recurrent miscarriage. If that's similar to you then you'd be able to do the same. If it's difficulty getting pregnant then it might need tests.

Daffodil21 · 05/09/2020 09:18

@kwastell thank you!!! I've had 2 MCs so not technically classed as recurrent yet but I really want to avoid that happening!

Don't feel you have to answer this but can I ask what she prescribed you? Feel free to PM if you'd prefer? I'm still not pregnant but I'd like to do some research and prepare as much as I can before (if it ever happens again)

Metallicalover · 05/09/2020 09:36

Smoking and heavy alcohol intake does affect sperm and if his first sample was below average then he needs to quit smoking and cut down on the alcohol intake.

The whole.... once you relax and you get your BFP is a load of poop in my experience. The month we conceived we were the most stressed we had been ever! Haha! Babies are born in war torn countries etc
The fertility consultant told us to dtd about 3 times a week. As sperm doesn't die off straight away and to help sperm regenerate also. (It does regenerate very quick anyways, but that's the advice we were given) x

kwastell · 05/09/2020 09:45

@Daffodil21 of course, am happy to share anything. The cocktail of what I'm on is below. It does include injections, but I'm a real wimp and have managed.

Daffodil21 · 05/09/2020 09:57

@kwastell thank you so much for this!!!

I'm so sorry about your 3 miscarriages. I'm so happy to read you're pregnant again and I wish you all the best ❤️

kwastell · 05/09/2020 09:58

@Daffodil21 no problem. I hope it works for you ✨

Daffodil21 · 05/09/2020 10:04

@kwastell we have to get to the point of pregnant first but knowing there are things like this if we do is a real help! Can I be really cheeky and ask roughly how much treatment cost? Again feel free to ignore the questions or pm me!

kwastell · 05/09/2020 10:14

Yes, it helped me a lot to know there were things I could do. It was £150 for the appointment and £400 for the prescription. There might be cheaper options out there but time wasn't on our side.

Daffodil21 · 05/09/2020 10:23

@kwastell brilliant! Thank you so much!!! Just got to actually get pregnant now...!

TattyMcBab · 05/09/2020 19:44

@Luckylola12 the long time waiting baby... we were on holiday and I said “I suppose if we’re going to try this month it should now”. Romantic eh? We dTD every other day, three times in total.
