Hey everyone,

I'm a bit concerned went for my consultant appointment today at 34 weeks and they couldny find her heartbeat. Was lay on my back for ten mins and they were pressing so hard it was causing me so much pain but they had to find her heartbeat to had to continue until they did.

Anyway 10 mins in to the pushing with the doppler I blacked out ears went numb went hot. 2 nurses carried me over to the chair and I completely fainted. When I come round they gave me water until my partner come and collected.me and said this is common in pregnancy as I was lay on my back and they were putting so much pressure on my tummy.

My partner is concerned now and it has worried me.. could.this have hurt the baby? I know they are consultants so hoping not but I was in a big amount of pain just wondering if she would have felt it ?

Thanks

Is your placenta at the front/in front of baby?

Melissa85 · 02/09/2020 12:26

@LouiseTrees no it's at the back x

I don't understand why if they were concerned that they didn't send you for an Ultrasound?

Melissa85 · 02/09/2020 12:29

@Alwaysinpain they found the heart beat just before I passed out they had no concerns at all. I'm just concerned on how hard they pushed and if it could have done any damage

I'm hoping someone who knows about this can help because I don't understand it at all. Why didn't they do an ultrasound?

I had a lot of checks and scans and if they couldn't get heartbeat easily and quickly, ultrasound it was. Even though that was a forty minute drive.

I hope you are ok and someone knowledgeable can advise.

@icedaisy she was kicking and moving the whole time they were trying to find it so they said it must have been where she was changing position. The ultrasound rooms were right next door so unsure why they didnt do this either Confused x

Oh I see. Thank God!

They can feel exactly where the baby is. They can even tell how many weeks you are from feeling your bump so try not to worry. If you're still in pain though I'd definitely call them. Thanks

I don’t think they would hurt the baby. My friend had a breech baby and she was black and blue from them trying to do a manual turn (didn’t work). Baby is well protected.

I agree I don’t think it would hurt the baby. Just monitor baby’s movements and check they don’t decrease
