Is there a 'normal' amount of weight to gain?

I'm 23 weeks pg with my second, and since my booking appt at 8 weeks I have put on 6lb. I was a bit overweight at booking (BMI 29) so I'm pleased I haven't put on loads of weight up to now. But is there a 'normal' amount to put on?? With my first I'm sure i put on about a stone in the first trimester. And she was a big 9lber at birth. Curious to see if this one will be smaller because I haven't put as much weight on at the start?

Have you looked at nhs website? Its a stone overweight to 2 stones for skinnies, i believe. Look at WHO guidelines???

2 stone max. I put on 4 the first time Blush

2 stone if you are not overweight to start with. Much less if you are overweight already.

This calculator is useful

I'm 28 weeks and have gained 5kg / 11lbs which is apparently less than the norm but the baby is growing well.

I had gained a lot more with my first at this stage (total 3stone gain at 40 weeks). This time I've been more careful to not eat for 2 and I'm physically more active as I'm not at a desk 9 hours a day.

I'm 30 weeks and have gained nearly 10kgs/22lbs but weirdly have not put any on for the last 2 weeks...

My BMI is under 20 but normal range, I put on just under 2 stone with my 2 pregnancies (this was still pregnant including the baby, I lost well over a stone just giving birth!). I’m 15 weeks and have gained 2lb so far. I think most of the weight gain is meant to take place in the 2nd trimester, it tailors off in the final trimester from what I’ve read.

If you are overweight to start with your weight gain shouldn’t be as high as a normal weight person, have a look on the online calculators.

Thanks everyone, i had a look online and I'm at the low end of what I should have put on but still within range. Baby was measuring normal at 20 week scan so I suppose that's all that matters!

I’m 28 weeks and have gained 12lbs. My bmi was 24 pre-pregnancy. I will find out ar my midwife appointment on Tuesday whether that is enough hopefully. All these calculators say I’ve not gained enough.

@Whatinthename20 your midwife won't weigh you. I was told I'd gained "less than average" when I asked about it but they had no concerns about the baby's growth and that was it.
