Hard and tense belly at 31 weeks

So yesterday afternoon my belly all of a sudden got really tense and hard to the touch.
At the same time it felt like baby has moved into the top part of me, putting a bit of pressure on my insides!
It's very hard to get comfortable and I've been up a few times during the night and had a little wander back and forth through the house trying to ease a bit of the pressure..
This is my first pregnancy and I'm not too sure if this is normal? Does it fall under Braxton Hicks?

Maybe TMI but I did just have a gigantic poo and feel like there's a liiiittle less pressure in there now.. am I just worrying over nothing?
Still getting lots of kicks and wriggles so I don't think it's having any effect on the baby!

If your belly felt hard at the same time as your baby moving, could it be that you were feeling the baby? When I spoke my belly where babys back or bum etc is, it feels very hard.

I have also had Braxton hicks and when that happens the whole top half of my stomach goes hard. I tend to 'test' whether it's a braxton hick by poking a bit of my belly where I know baby isnt and is usually squishy, and if that bit is hard and it feels tense all over then it's a Braxton hick. If there are bits that are still squishy and baby is moving about then I think it's just baby moving that is causing the feeling of tense-ness/pressure.

*poke, not spoke!

Sounds like Braxton Hicks, I had this from about 30 weeks regularly throughout the day.

@UrsulaSings usually if I'm poking the baby it does feel hard but then other parts feel soft! When I was at work the entire belly felt hard, I was poking all around to see if it was just baby I was feeling haha.
Since last night it's mostly just the top half, with the bottom half squishy, it really feels like he's laying sideways above my belly button or something! So uncomfortable

I've got this at the moment - I'm 39 weeks though. The top part of my bump has gone very tight and solid and I feel like the baby is all in the top half like you! I've not experienced Braxton Hicks during the whole pregnancy (that I know of) but I don't think it's that as its been constant for the last hour or two, not coming and going? I'm baffled! Movements are fine 😐

Either Braxton Hicks, or just baby getting wedged in a funny place! Does sound like Braxton Hicks though.

Had this all the time with my first pregnancy. This time I’ve had Braxton Hicks off and on since 6 weeks (weird, but apparently not worrying, says my midwife)
