Me and my DH have been TTC for 18 months and to my shock and extreme excitement we found out on Sunday that I was pregnant.
After the initial excitement, I am now absolutely besides myself that this is going to end in a loss and I know its irrational but I just can't seem to stop thinking about it.
Help me calm the hell down?

@Katlow Congratulations on your BFP! I recently found out I was pregnant again after a MMC in March (am now 11+2) so can understand the anxiety, it can be awful! The way I have coped is by setting little milestones and just focusing on them. So mine were: get to six weeks, call midwife, get to seven weeks, eight weeks, booking appointment, private scan (at 10 weeks), 12 week scan (which is actually at 13+3 and I’m still two weeks away from 😫). Just breaking it all down in to little manageable chunks seemed to take away the enormity of what lay ahead.
If you can face it, I’d also recommend some prenatal yoga, even if it’s just 20mins here and there. I’ve not been able to face it for the last couple of months (nausea and tiredness) but have started again this week and it’s been so calming.

It DOES get easier - the first week or two after finding out I was pregnant again were the worst but as you get through each little milestone, you begin to believe a little more than everything might just be ok.

Good luck with it all - always around if you want a chat x

Congratulations OP, how wonderful. I had to have IVF to get pregnant and I was the same as you, almost sick with worry. I had implantation bleeding too which sent my anxiety through the roof, I remember crying my eyes out in the work loos! There's nothing you can do in these early stages except try and stay busy and do things that push it to the back of your mind as far as possible.

I had a scan at about 7 weeks that showed a heartbeat (wouldn't recommend one before that point as they might not be able to find one anyway, it'll just add to your worry ime), I was told basically from the point they've seen a healthy heartbeat the risk of miscarriage goes down to almost what it is at 12 weeks. That helped a bit but I still had a couple of reassurance scans before 12 weeks. I felt constantly sick from about 6.5 weeks too which I found strangely reassuring (although it doesn't mean everything is okay so only a little better). Then from about 20 weeks I could feel movement and that also took my anxiety down a bit. My point is the worry didn't go away but with the scans, the pregnancy symptoms and eventually feeling the movements it did go gradually down a bit as the pregnancy went on.
