No dating scan appointment - when to chase?

Hi everyone, I'm 9 weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy so I am a little clueless as to when things are supposed to happen / when to worry. At the advice of my GP, I self referred myself to the hospital's maternity unit about 2 weeks ago (filled in form online) but have received no letter for my 12 week scan appointment yet. I understand that not much happens in the first trimester and that the scan won't be for another 3 weeks but it would be good to know get a date or some sort of acknowledgement from the hospital. I'm just worried they've missed my referral because of covid or something. Is it too soon to call the hospital and chase now? Should I wait another week or so? Conscious most receive their letters quite close to the scan but also anxious about leaving it too late to chase and hence missing my scan and opportunity for nt test/ combined test given my age.

By 11 weeks I hadn’t received a letter for my scan so I gave them a call and it turned out the midwife hadn’t referred me and they just booked me in when I called up. I’m not sure on the normal time scale on receiving them is!

Thanks @Lkb2020 - this is what I'm worried about, I've heard stories about them missing referrals. I self referred instead of midwife doing it but didn't get any acknowledgement of form being submitted

I would give them a call. Hopefully they will say they have your referral and give you a timescale of when to expect a letter.

You should have had a call with a midwife at 8 weeks and they make the referral for the 12 week scan

I'd chase them up

Hi @Cocktails4One
I self referred too to my chosen hospital and received a letter about a week later congratulating me etc. That was it until I had a call from my midwife to book in for my initial booking in appointment at 8 weeks. I think after that you just have to wait to receive a letter about the dating scan at 12/13 weeks. If you haven’t got anything through maybe contact your midwife? X

Thank you all. I rang the hospital. They didn't ask for any details or check if my referral went through. Just said it was too early for me to worry but I should be getting a letter any day now given I referred myself 2 weeks ago. I won't hold my breath though and will chase again after a week.

My booking appointment wasnt until 10 weeks but they let me call and book my scan in straight after, perhaps your area won't allow your scan to be booked until after you have your booking appointment?
