Hi ladies

Sorry I know this isn’t a pregnancy topic but the other forums don’t have anywhere near as much traffic...

My baby is 8 weeks old today and we combined feed - breast feed/EMB and aptimel first formula.

My poor boy has colic and real discomfort with his tummy and we’ve tried everything - infacol, gripe Water, massage, pace feeding!

I was recommended “comfort milk” and wondered whether it’s actually effective or just a gimmicky product that makes no difference!

I’m sceptical because so many babies have colic and of it really did work then wouldn’t every mother use it?

Thanks x

Caveat - I’m still pregnant rather than having had my baby BUT at my hospital antenatal classes the midwives said that comfort milk/follow on milks are unnecessary. First milk (if formula feeding) is all your baby should need, with the others simply a money making exercise for formula companies and their way around not being allowed to advertise for babies under 6 months.

Have you spoken to your GP or HV? Could it be an issue with the type of formula? I think it’s quite rare but some babies don’t get on well with the type of protein in a standard formula and so other types are available on prescription.

I believe it’s a sales gimmick and agree with what @WhatWouldPennyDo said

What bottles do you use - have you tried a version that doesn’t let the air go in?

We used MAM Bottles and liked them A lot but I’ve also heard people recommend dr browns?
