So i’m 37 weeks and had to come to in to monitor baby due to reduced movements etc. I came in today for what was suppose to be 30 mins of monitor, Told me to wait about to speak to a doctor
Obviously it’s getting late and asked if there was an update as i needed to go home, they said doctor was “busy” and said he shouldn’t be long.
Well long story short they have just come in and told me that doctors not happy with Monitoring results and i am getting induced TONIGHT.
I have literally never ever been so scared in my life, i have nothing with me and i feel so unprepared, I didn’t get induced with DC1 and all i’ve heard is horror stories.
Please ladies give me some positive experiences i’m a wreck 😢 And feel so alone right now!

All the best OP, this is scary yes, but also exciting and amazing. Will be thinking of you and looking forward to your updates!

doyawannabuildasnowmaaaaaaaan · 23/08/2020 01:02

And good luck op. Xxx

RunningHoops · 23/08/2020 01:08

@doyawannabuildasnowmaaaaaaaan. I'm not sure - it was years ago and I think I was in for monitoring at the time but I remember the nurse being quite shocked.

Mc3209 · 23/08/2020 04:39

@Mummab123456 good luck, lovely! You will be holding your baby soon!

@RunningHoops I am silently giggling into my pillow trying not to wake DH up. Eating the pessary - hilarious! 😂

Mummab123456 · 23/08/2020 04:42

@RunningHoops

TOP TIP:. Don't eat the pessary like the lady in the cubicle next to me did. Grin

Good luck OP - I look forward to your updates.

Omg that is crazy- did make me chuckle 😂. Well i managed to get my bag dropped off to me thank god! Nothing happened just as yet still waiting for them the ward is so so busy. Had zero sleep so hoping it will be soon. Thank you all so so much for your kind words and i hope i’m positively updating very soon!!!

DancingCatGif · 23/08/2020 05:47

Good luck OP! Thinking of you

disorganisedsecretsquirrel · 23/08/2020 05:54

Good luck Mummab123456 . Induction can be a slow business. Have they not even began yet ? No pessary last night ? How frustrating to be away from DC just to spend a broken nights sleep in a busy hospital ward...

You mention DC being looked after by friend.. is this your second ? How was labour with your first ?
All 3 of mine were induced .. I never went in to spontaneous labour .. so have no other experience to compare with - but can say each time was fine. I chose to have an epidural with the first two and pethidine with the last.. I much preferred the pethidine .. as it wore of quicker .. and I could still walk around. Have you had any thoughts about pain killer . Did you have some with your first ?

Good luck..

Howallergic · 23/08/2020 06:59

I'm glad you've got your hospital bag now at least. Hope you managed a little bit of sleep. I became accustomed to sleeping through noise and bright lights so struggle to sleep in silence and the dark!

totallyyesno · 23/08/2020 07:01

How's it going OP? Hope you managed some sleep. Best of luck for today.

totallyyesno · 23/08/2020 07:02

BTW my induction started on a Thursday and I gave birth on the following Saturday so don't be worried if nothing happens immediately.

Treaclepie19 · 23/08/2020 07:41

Hope you're okay OP Flowers
Must have been a big shock. You can definitely do this though ❤ Not long until you meet your baby.

MrsMaglev · 23/08/2020 07:45

You've got this!! I found the most difficult bit was the waiting around and like others have said when it happens it happens FAST. I know it's hard on a ward but do your best to get some rest (and wander about if you can!). I gave birth alone following an induction earlier this year (midwives etc but no DH) and it's not ideal but you can do it!!Thanks

MizMoonshine · 23/08/2020 08:40

Hey OP. I'm sorry to hear you are in some distress. Hope you and baby are doing well xx

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 23/08/2020 09:11

Morning OP (it's me, HairDilemmas under my usual name).

There is soooo much waiting around when it comes to induction isn't there? It depends on how many labouring women are in already; they won't want to progress you unless they know they're able to care for you in active labour. I'm sure they'll be monitoring you on and off until that happens.

Did you get any sleep? It's not easy. I remember my bed was next to the nurses station and it was awful!

notthemum · 23/08/2020 09:19

Morning lovely. How you doing today ?

Maverick66 · 23/08/2020 17:09

Hi OP
Hope things are going well for you and can't wait to hear your news!

doyawannabuildasnowmaaaaaaaan · 23/08/2020 21:14

@RunningHoops

I bet that story has been told many a time by the nurse.

RunningHoops · 23/08/2020 22:20

@doyawannabuildasnowmaaaaaaaan. I wonder if it ever happens the other way around - painkiller inserted in wrong place!

OP, I hope your baby is coming along nicely.

Howallergic · 24/08/2020 03:52

The pessary thing is not that unbelievable actually. My exes grandfather was dying and was being looked after by one grandson primarily (exes brother). One day another male cousin came to look after him as usual carer needed to be somewhere and had been told to give him a pessary twice a day - he figured they were too big to be swallowed so broke them in two before the wife of the dying man intervened. He didn't know what a pessary was either. He might have sent him on his way before his time if he'd made him swallow them. God above.

Mummab123456 · 25/08/2020 08:13

Sorry for the late update! Baby born safe and absolutely beautiful, both doing well.
Thank you all so much for your kind words i’ll be forever grateful xxxx
