Before i even write this believe me i know what an idiot i am (hence the username) but please be nice!!
Last night i had bleeding after sex, i have a long history with bleeding problems on nearly all contraception ive tried and if i have sex too soon after finishing a period i sometimes bleed but havent done for years as i know when this is likely to happen.
The only other 2 times ive bled after sex is during the early stages of my 2 pregnancies.
I have short cycles and long periods and started my last period on the 9th August, me and DH had sex the day after it finished on the17th so basically 4 days ago and stupidly we did it unprotected, i stupidly thought to myself being the day after my period i wasnt likely to be anywhere near ovulation but now having used a rough calculator for ovulation the fact i have short cycles means i would have ovulated right around then/now.
Sorry for the rambling! I know there is a chance i could be pregnant now but surely after 4 days there is no way it would cause me to bleed 4 days later after sex? The 2 times its happened before were about 2-3 weeks after i would have conceived.
I've just never randomly bled after sex several days after a period for no reason, all smears are up to date etc. Thank you for any advice!

Anybody???

Like you say yourself, its possible, the only way to know is to wait until AF is due and take a test.

Imacompleteidiot · 21/08/2020 13:14

Thank you @sanch1 I know I've just got to wait, can't believe I'm in my 30's and thought it would be fine, I've never tracked ovulation etc and assumed it happened much further along in a cycle.
A pregnancy is not what I want so I am praying I'm not pregnant! I will never let this happen again.

I guess it’s possible.... one of my children were conceived when I had sex just once around my ovulation time.... not planned at all just once a one off and 9 months later I had a baby boy! So yes it does happen! But what ever happens, it happens for a reason and that reason is that what is meant to be will be.

So with my short cycles i am due on thursday this week, i started bleeding again 3 days ago thinking it was my period super early and was relieved but it was just spotting for 2 days and has now gone again (wasnt after sex this time)
So now i dont know what is going on, just praying period turns up on Thurs... i don't understand the random bleeding i think im now more concerned that if it isnt pregnancy related it could be something more worrying.

Sorry I can't offer any advice but I'd test when you can and if it's negative then suggest speaking to your gp, only because there's signs all over our maternity unit about bleeding between periods and cervical cancer etc x

Blissfulignorance · 01/09/2020 09:06

I believe any unusual bleeding, after sex or mid cycle should be investigated by your gp...

Hope you get the answer you're looking for.

My baby was conceived from a one off no where near when I should have ovulated. So yes, you might be. But then, other people try for years I suppose. Time will tell.

Nimsay1 · 01/09/2020 10:09

Probably a stupud question but have you been checked for fibroids or cysts? They often cause bleeding between periods and after sex. I had fibroids remover for that exact reason several years ago and the bleeding completely stopped after that.

Imacompleteidiot · 01/09/2020 10:26

@Nimsay1 Not a stupid question at all, i do have fibroids actually, noted about 4 years ago to have 1 small one and they said that it wasnt the cause of my period problems (heavy, short cycles etc) in my last pregnancy (DD is now 1) they found 3 in my scans but again were small and they've told me they don't think they would cause symptoms.
Like i said in the orignal post i've only ever bled abnormally when on the pill (mini pill was the worst 7 weeks straight of bleeding) or after sex either too soon after a period or when i've been pregnant but its possible the fibroids have grown and are the cause this time. I always bleed after smears too so i think im just very awkward/sensitive in that area!
If im not pregnant i will be making a GP appointment and won't let them fob me off this time.
