Help - tightenings every few minutes...

But they aren’t painful? More like period pain. I’m 38 weeks and had a sweep yesterday. Could they just be false contractions after the sweep? Freya App says I’m in established labour...I can assure you Freya that I am not! Baby is moving lots with them too which makes it hard to decipher what’s going on. You’d think second time round I’d know Blush

No these are probably contractions! I had these and went into hospital 4cm dilated, a few weeks, because I expected them to be really painful which they weren’t until my waters broke. Good Luck!

Have your bag ready! I had tightening like you describe for 18 hours before going into established labour on my second. I went into town to meet a friend for lunch and do some shopping.
Looking back I can't believe I did that..

I was like this with my second. 12 hours of non painful period like tightenings, which I didn't think anything of, just thought it was my body prepping for some point in the future. I then had a couple more which felt slightly more uncomfortable, but still not painful/proper contraction like. My waters then broke and painful contractions started pretty much straight away. Baby was born within an hour of waters going. Totally different to my first birth. Just be aware - good luck!

Sounds exactly like early labour to me OP.

MrsCl19 · 21/08/2020 06:17

Exactly how my labour started! Good luck op! 🥰

So they carried on for a while, I decided to stop timing them and watch something on my phone...then I fell asleep. Woke up this morning and nothing! Feeling a bit disappointed as I thought it might progress overnight, but also feeling hopeful that all those niggles might be doing something down there. I need to get it out of my head that this labour will be the same as last time (suddenly started and born 7 hours later) and I might be in for a longer ride Confused

Looks like those cramps were doing something after all, mucus plug has just come out! Eek!

@TwinkleStars15 how you getting on?

TwinkleStars15 · 21/08/2020 16:56

@MrsK89 nothing to write home about! A few tightenings but nothing too exciting. I have a ‘feeling’ something might happen but that could just be me being too optimistic Blush

I had painless tightenings. Went to hospital and was told to go home. I asked that they keep me in as I was supposed to be induced later in the day. I was 5cm!

MrsK89 · 21/08/2020 17:48

@TwinkleStars15 when I got the "feeling" last time, I went into labour that day so I believe you kind of know!
Wishing you the best of luck and excited to hear some baby news 😁

TwinkleStars15 · 21/08/2020 18:30

@perfumeistooexpensive oh wow - 5cms! I would love that Grin @MrsK89 really? That’s good to know. I had an Osteopathy appointment today to try and encourage baby into a better position (has been floating but mainly back to back) and she said she could feel some tightenings whilst I was there. Nothing has been painful so far though. It was my last day at work today so baby is welcome to come tonight if it wishes!
