18 weeks and strong period-like pains when I walk

I'm nearly 18 weeks (17+5) and have been out for a couple of walks this week with the dog out in the countryside. After about 20 mins of walking I start to get really strong cramps low down in my tummy which feel like sharp period pains.

Is the exercise stimulating my uterus to stretch or something? Anybody else experience this? I haven't had these pains at any other time.

It sounds like round ligament pain, totally normal at this stage, BUT if it is v strong and you're worried, please call your midwife for reassurance.
