NEXPLANON Removal and pregnancy soon after

Hello!
I had my Nexplanon birth control implant removed on Tuesday 4th August 2020 and have been feeling very, very nauseous for a while now. I'm also getting horrible headaches, stomach cramps as though AF is in the way, and stomach pains (dull) on the right hand side of my stomach..
I had periods on my implant, but they weren't particularly pin-point regular and would come and go as they please! But haven't had one in a while now, at least a month and a half but could be longer; I can't remember for sure the dates of my last one as I've never had to calculate them, but also I know that whilst on the implant you will bleed but not ovulate.

I called the nurse that took the implant out for me earlier on, and she has advised that she's not had anybody have any 'side effects' of having had the implant removed which I found a little strange, as I've not felt right for a while since it's been taken out and actually had to pull over recently whilst driving as I felt as though I could be physically sick at any moment. It's also affecting being out and about and meals etc as when we went out recently we had to leave very soon after since I felt so unwell. Confused

My partner and I had unprotected sex on 7th August and have continued to do so since..
The nurse told me that, according to her calculations; my Period should come this week. If it isn't here this week there is a good chance I could be pregnant based on the symptoms I'm experiencing.. but to be sure I can test for pregnancy NEXT Friday as it would have been 3 weeks since unprotected sex.

I was confused because I didn't have a period after removal so didn't think I'd have possibly ovulated, but my nurse has confirmed that 24hrs after the implant removal the hormone is gone from your system completely, and you can also ovulate a few days after the removal and have no period.

So, my questions are:

  • Has anybody had any of these symptoms after Nexplanon removal - or fallen pregnant very soon after removal without having had a period first?

The Nurse asked me of my family history, and all females in my family are very, very fertile and have all fallen pregnant within the first month of TTC.. she did say that this can run in the family so it is a possibility.

  • Am I getting my hopes up..? She did advise that many women feel the 'pregnancy' very soon after implantation of the egg but not all do. Could it just be my hormones returning to some kind of normality? Waiting for my period to come is so awful. Confused

My friend had her implant out to TTC, she fell pregnant on the pill with her first baby so you’d perceive her to probably be quite fertile but it took 6 months for her to get pregnant after the implant, she didn’t get her first period until about 6 weeks after but I’m sure people do get pregnant without having a period there’s just no way of knowing unless you’re tracking ovulation. If you only had unprotected sex 10 days ago it would be extremely early to have any symptoms of pregnancy so you’re probably best doing what to the nurse has said and take a test in w couple of weeks If you haven’t had a period in that time, good luck😌

Heya!
I had the Nexplanon for its full 3 years and had regular periods on it which is uncommon but made it very easy for tracking!

Husband and I knew we wanted to start trying in January this year so when the removal time came in June 2019 we decided to have 6 months of me getting back into a normal rhythm then start trying.

I didn't have any of the symptoms you have reported after removal. Did your implant have long to go on it? Unsure if that would make a difference but I could imagine it might take a while for your hormones to balance out again.

We conceived in February of this year, but the Dr said with the implant your body goes back to fertility pretty much immediately so we could have got pregnant straight away.

The waiting is the hardest part! Good luck!

Hello, I had my implant removed last year on 9th July, didnt have very regular periods on it....didnt have a bleed after and had a positive pregnancy test exactly 4 weeks after removal!

Unfortunately it was a MMC in the end but due to other health factors...just shows though it can happen straight away x
