Possibility of twins

Twins run in my family along DMs side. DM is a non identical twin, and so is her mum, her Nan, and her great Nan, it didn’t skip a generation until it got to my mum, although she only had me so who knows whether she’d have had twins if she had any more pregnancies.

Anyway, I read online the chances of conceiving twins increases when you breastfeed (I’m still breastfeeding DS) so wondered this coupled with the the family history - could it be?

I experienced no nausea in my last two pregnancies, just a little fatigue. This time I’m so sick and the fatigue is horrendous. I know the likelihood is that there is just one in there. I would love twins so have just got thinking about the chances. I had very early scans with my other two pregnancies so i knew they were singletons from early on but this time (7 nearly 8 weeks) I’ve not had scan yet so just teasing myself with the idea.

Has anyone else had twins and had an idea before the first scan?

I'm 12 weeks with twins (but via IVF). I have zero symptoms. I was more tired than usual but zero sickness and still don't.

I was scanned at 6 weeks so knew early but even if I hadn't I was in maternity clothes by 8 weeks so I would have suspected twins by then I'm sure

I have 1 year boy/girl twins and I had really bad sickness from 5/6 weeks. Also had a very strong positive test on the day of my missed period which in hindsight was a big give away.

@TwinMum89 This makes me think I could possibly have twins in there!! All my tests were super positive, I even tried using OPKs first before my period was due and always got strong positives on them.
I’m currently 8+4 and have been suffering with severe sickness and nausea since week 5, I’ve even been in hospital for a few nights on drips and anti sickness meds it got that bad. I did have an early scan at 6 weeks due to some bleeding and the sonographer mentioned something else caught her eye but she said there was only one so we will see if there was one hiding when I have my 12 week scan!

I've just found I'm expecting twins too (currently 9+4) and we were told it's actually really common nowadays even if it doesn't run in the family(it doesn't in ours) not sire why that is though! My test was super positive too, although luckily my morning sickness hasn't been that awful.

@ivfdreaming congratulations! I’m glad you’ve had no sickness!

@Lelophants will do, I’m tempted to go for an early scan just to settle my mind!

@TwinMum89 I had a strong positive before my period was due, but also with my last baby I had a very strong positive 5 days before my period was due so I’m not thinking into it too much

@Bearcub01 I’ve heard of people going for early scans and not discovering a second baby, then doing so at the 12 week scan!

@Pollito congratulations! That’s interesting, I’ve heard of a few people having twins lately so it makes sense. I hope that sways my odds, I’d love twins!

I thought I was pregnant with twins . I was still nursing 3 times a day and got a strong positive . I didn’t exactly want twins though however I was so convinced I was pregnant with them I started to warm up to the idea ! I even started getting excited . I booked myself in for an early scan aaaaaaaaand .... just one baby 😝! My gut feeling was wrong 🤦‍♀️
