Hi all,

I am 13weeks 2 days pregnant, i had a scan at 10.5 weeks, one at 13, both scans fine strong hb, everything where it should be my blood results fine too, i read online the stats on a MC after 12 weeks being low but I am also reading so many horror stories online, i had a MC yr and half ago lost it at 6 weeks so I am just very nervous about it all, So far I have been given no reason to worry but still am! I wanted to buy a doppler but i am not experienced un using them and fear it might make my anxiety worse, i will most likely book a private scan at some point, from now to 20 wk scan seems so far away

How did everyone else cope with anxiety between scans etc? X

Firstly congratulations!

Secondly, stop reading online horror stories please! You will end up looking back on your pregnancy realising you didn't enjoy it at all which will be a shame.

I understand your anxiety because I've had an MMC and MC (both before 12 weeks), but you've had 2 excellent scans which is wonderful. You will start feeling movements in a few weeks and that will bring you comfort too.

Personally, I would advise against getting a doppler only because you'll probably become obsessive with it and it may only cause you more panic if the baby is laying in an awkward position which can make it difficult to locate the heartbeat. This happened to me once at a midwife appointment. I wasn't panicked because I had felt baby moving all morning but the midwife struggled to find her heartbeat for a while because of her position.

Look into pregnancy yoga. See if that helps. And try to reset your mindfulness to positive thoughts which I know is challenging given the current climate but stay focussed if you can.

You and your baby will be absolutely fine. Smile

Sending loveThanks

Whatever you do don't buy a Doppler! Untrained people rarely get the child's heartbeat.. but then assume self-reassurance. My best advice is to stop googling and if you can afford a private scan here and there then do that for official reassurance!! X
