Due date today. Belly soft and feeling dull movements

I'm 40 weeks today and all of a sudden my whole belly is soft and squishy. Baby is also not moving as much. I feel like he's changed position so the movements I'm feeling are quite dull, almost like he's moved further back into my spine? He's been back to back for a few weeks so I cant think what position he's in at the moment. I've had no signs of labour whatsoever apart from the occasional BH. Is it normal for your belly to go soft before labour?

If your baby is not moving as much then I would give triage a call and see what they say.

You must call your maternity unit and go in for monitoring. Do not wait!

MrsCl19 · 16/08/2020 06:30

Agree with pp you need to ring and get monitored, it's an old wives tale movements reduce before labour.

Mamimawr · 16/08/2020 06:33

Please phone your hospital, they will want to check you.

Did you call the hospital OP ?

angel0071987 · 16/08/2020 11:21

@ChocoLover7 as others have said please get checked as lack of movements can be a concern. Good luck hope you get to meet baby soon and all is well

Baby decided to become an acrobat when I was laying in bed last night which put my mind at ease. If he goes quiet again then I'll call the hospital. However it still doesn't explain the squishy belly?!

Call the hospital, please.

Very irresponsible not to call / visit hospital as you have had significant changes in bump and movement.

TTCROYGBIV · 17/08/2020 23:06

I would go get monitored just to be sure.

When I was 39+1 with dd I got up in the middle of the night and collapsed in pain on the bathroom floor. My bump changed shape as well, went squishy like yours. Found out she had turned back to back and I delivered her that way.

Have you had your baby yet OP?

angel0071987 · 27/08/2020 18:10

@ChocoLover7 you had your baby yet? Hope all ok :)

ChocoLover7 · 27/08/2020 21:28

Hi,
Yes I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy on the 21st. I ended up being induced after my waters broke on the 20th!
