Hi Ladies,

I’ve just gone in to my 12th week of pregnancy, I’m still nauseous and still get morning sickness. Today is the second day where I have been getting almost painful period like cramps. The sort of pain I usually get just as I’m about to start but there’s no blood or discharge thankfully. I keep going to the loo expecting to see blood. Has anyone experienced this? I have my scan this week so don’t want to trouble the hospital before that with my worries. I’ve been getting cramps on and off during this pregnancy but never for 2 days straight. I’m also worried because today would have been the day my period was due.

Can you take a couple of paracetamol and stay resting for the day? Keep yourself hydrated. Cramping can be normal, especially if it is your first, everything is stretching for the first time, it doesn’t always mean anything untoward.

Hey @Ella17393 I have found that I'm more crampy if I don't drink enough water, especially at the moment as it is so hot. I remember getting lots of cramping with my DS and all was well during that pregnancy. Hope everything is ok and you feel better soon :)

I had a very similar experience with my current pregnancy, OP. I'd had mild cramps throughout the pregnancy, but at about twelve weeks they suddenly got really bad for a few days, worse than my usual period pain. They went away after a few days and I'm 20 weeks now. I don't know why they got so bad at 12 weeks. I guess the placenta is fully formed and doing all the work by then and everything is just growing and expanding so rapidly.

I had them a lot between 12 and 14 weeks. I spoke to a midwife about it and they put it down to stretching. I’m 28 weeks now and all is fine.

I found changing position, drinking a lot of water and a paracetamol helped.

Thank you so much for the reassurance ladies! I think you’re right and it may be down to lack of water. I’ve been drinking a lot of fruit juices but guess it isn’t having the same effect as water
