Hello, has anyone had a planned c section booked but then something went wrong/didn't go to plan meaning they had an emergency c section or a vaginal birth?
I am due to have a planned c section but want to be prepared as I know things don't always go to plan!!

The answer is yes... about 5% of women go into labour before CS date(if it’s booked at 39 weeks). Depending on the reason for CS, some women choose to continue in labour; and occasionally things go fast and some may have a vaginal delivery. Generally just have a low threshold to go to the hospital if you think labour might be starting. Emergency CS isn’t usually a problem- in fact it can be good for baby’s lungs to have some contractions!
If there are really serious reasons why you absolutely can’t labour at all/have a vagina birth then it’s worth discussing whether to do CS before 39 weeks (eg praevia usually booked earlier).
I’m sure there will be people along to tell you about their personal experiences :)
