Hi guys please help! Xx
C section in 10 days, cant wait. Weve been waiting for this baby for 2 years!!!

Sadly, Ive developed a horrible edema (swelling, fluid retention) on my lower abdomen (right where the c section cut would be). Its large and quite firm. I initally thought it was a hernia but the dr diagnosed it as edema and the skin texture came in days later. Urine is free of protein and BP is perfect so not preeclampsia.
Both a doctor and midwife have seen it and commented "wow ive never seen one THERE before!". And i cant find much online for it either.

Honestly guys, this thing is disgusting, lumpy, firm, oddly textured, painful, tender... 🤢🤢🤢😖😖😖. I cringe when i think about it. What can i do to get rid of it? Its sooo painful and uncomfortable, its making it even harder to move.. i feel like someone from "my 600lb life" where theyre suffering from awful edemic growths. I dont want to get to that stage :'(
Its like its stealing the last few days i have with my bump.. (if that makes ANY sense)
Please tell me im not alone and HOW do i get rid of it?

Xxx
Thanks xx

I’m surprised they said they haven’t seen it before... it’s fairly common! You may find some compression shirts/tights or a support belt or tubigrip helpful, possibly also lying down and resting when you can (if it’s better in the mornings when you wake up then you know that the lying down is helpful) - but basically it will only go away completely after delivery. Just make sure you get BP/urine checked again if it’s getting lots worse or you have any other symptoms.
Do try to enjoy your last few days of freedom!
