Hi all! I’ve just found out I’m 22 weeks pregnant, total shock!! And up until now I’ve been smoking (around 5 a day) and I’ve had the occasional drink on a Saturday night ( 5 drinks round about) please reassure me that this little bundle is going to be okay!😩😩😩

Hi @Turnerk
First of all, congratulations! I can only imagine how bloody shocked you are! Did you not have an inkling that you were pregnant?
I’m not a medical professional but going from family experience it’s possible.
Someone in my family found out at 23 weeks, she was doing the same things you have been, and just living her normal life and her baby is absolutely fine x

Oh bless you, I went from thinking I was 11 weeks to finding out I was nearly 17 and that was a big enough shock, your head must be reeling! Baby probably is fine but I’m sure your midwife will do any extra checks they can to reassure you. Women smoke and drank for decades while pregnant and most babies were fine. Obviously not all and obviously not ideal but you didn’t know and can’t change it now and stressing yourself won’t help baby either. Just do the best you can now! And congratulations!!

Holy shit!!

I’m sure they’ll be fine, not ideal but not like you were shooting up.

Hope you’re ok, you must be in shock.

I honestly thought I was just getting fat😂😂 I went up a size in clothes and left it as that, and then literally thought no this can’t be right surely! So I took a pregnancy test and I just sat back down on the toilet in complete shock🤣🤣 but I’m over the moon and so is my partner (after he came around!) but I’m so glad to here that! I just hope baby is okay!

Considering there are still women stood outside the maternity unit puffing away and lots of pregnant women have the occasional wine, I think it's likely your baby will be fine Smile but stop the worrying now, you can't change anything, just enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and rejoice that the early days are done with Grin
