I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant & every day there seems to be something new for me to complain about 😂

Last 3 weeks or so, I've suffered terrible water retention in my ankles & my fingers
I try to elevate my feet when I can but working 9+ hours a day is difficult when I work as a checkout supervisor
Me & my partner have tried putting deep freeze on , massaging etc & it takes the edge of slightly
I'm 100% done with swollen ankles 😂

Today I'm walking as I've put on 8 stone over night. My ankles are swelling over my trainers , I've loosened the laces to help in case the shoes are too tight

Along side this , I'm feeling a little faint & queasy. I've spoke to the community midwife who's checked my bloods , everything is fine from that end

She's suggested I up my water intake which I have the past couple of weeks & rest as I can. Like I said it's difficult when my job is basically on my feet for all my shift

I haven't spoke to my manager yet about it , but I'm extremely close to saying I want to go home

Can anyone suggest anything I can do / take to relieve any of the symptoms I'm having today ?

Thank you

Hi OP, oh that sounds horrible! But also completely normal for your first trimester - I had random vomiting, constant nausea and exhaustion. It sounds like you should try and take some time off sick or book some annual leave- it must be really tough if this heat to keep going and I don't know how I would have coped in my first trimester with a job that entailed standing up, I barely coped with working remotely from home with my laptop in bed so you are doing great! I now regret pushing through the first semester and not taking a few days off when I felt at my worst.
Other than that can you ask for shorter shifts or a change of responsibilities at work - they are legally bound to make reasonable adjustments.
Whilst you're feeling awful right now you should feel better in your second trimester, I'm 17 weeks and whilst I still have insomnia and occasional vomiting, I feel less dizzy, no longer have splitting headaches and can stay awake all day.
Good luck!
