Divorce, pregnant and stressed

As the title says. I started divorce proceedings in December last year but due to Covid it has been delayed and so still waiting on the Decree Nisi. It’s been a traumatic time, with the ex being twisted and controlling but I have found a new partner and am now 6 weeks pregnant. I’m stressing though now. If the baby’s born before the divorce is finalised my husbands name won’t automatically go on the birth certificate will it? Might be a stupid question but so stressed about everything at the moment.

No, because he isn't the father.

Not 100% sure but I think the father has to actually be there to sign the forms for paternity to be established, so I don’t think your ex’s name would automatically go on the birth certificate. He would have to be there in person to assume paternity.

Not that I know of, you hey a choice as to what last name you put on as far as I know for example most Muslim families dont have surnames as such and each child will have their own unique full name often complatley unrelated to parents or siblings and there is no issue in registering them.

I am going through similar situation. About to go second hearing of financial and not yet start the custody. Does the pregnancy with another man effect or delay your divorce? Does it effect child financial remedy and custody?

I think that If you are still married to your ex when the baby is born it would be considered a child of the marriage. This would give your ex PR for the child even if he is not present. However, if you take your new partner with you to register the birth you can put his name on the birth certificate. This would give him PR.
