Lack of symptoms at 8 weeks and before viability scan? Anyone else had the same with positive endings.

As it says above. I am 8 weeks today on my 4th ivf and first to be successful. I have had losses before the ivf as well. One of which was a missed miscarriage so the lack of symptoms is scary. Pregnancy loss is devastating and if you’ve been through it you will know that morning sickness is a shall price to pay to feel like you are not about to go through it again. Anyone is or been in the same boat? I thought I’d feel worse with being on so many tablets/injections/ pessaries as well.

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses and I'll send out a silent prayer that this one sticks.

I lost all symptoms at 8/9 weeks and read recently that that's when the placenta kicks in so it could be that.

Fingers crossed for you x

Thank you so much! I have read that as well. Hopefully very very few symptoms going to none is because of that! 🤞🏼

Although to be fair, the only symptom I had was sore boobs! When is your viability scan?

Sals27 · 09/08/2020 17:38

I had to have a private scan at 8 weeks last time because I had not one hint of a symptom excluding the lack of AF and I felt totally normal so I couldn't really see how I could be pregnant. I was, that baby is now refusing to eat the dinner I cooked and being a pita Hmm

I'm in my second pregnancy and no symptoms again so I've booked another 8 week scan because it's really unnerving

happytoday73 · 09/08/2020 17:49

What do you mean by no symptoms?

You are so early on.... Honestly in my successful pregnancies other than the lack of period I had no signs/symptoms/body changes till 2nd trimester. My mum could tell before I told her (🙄😜) but other than that - nothing obvious 🤣....

I really hope this pregnancy works out and you can relax and enjoy it....After loss I found I didn't settle till 30 weeks or so in next pregnancy ... At that stage my brain finally accepted it'd probably all be alright (and it was)...

Sallyivf · 09/08/2020 18:03

Thanks everyone. By lack of symptoms means I have nothing. Not a hint if nausea. No sore boobs. No aversions. No feeling of tightness or pulling. All of my friends (and that’s a lot by the time I got to 36) bar one had some kind of symptom before 8 weeks so I suppose that’s just what I base myself on - I know I shouldn’t! All the websites say symptoms will start at 6+ weeks. Many say none is a sign of bad to come. Many forums says no symptoms lead to miscarriage. It’s all so unnerving and the thought of going through a miscarriage again after 6 losses is just too much so any glimmer of hope or good news stories will be gratefully received just as something to keep me going those last few days! My scan is Tuesday!
Six years after we started trying and I really never thought I’d still be here ... an irrational nervous wreck!

Just to add I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant and also on progesterone pessaries. My only symptom is sore boobs but even that comes and goes. I had a private scan and all was well, size wise and heartbeat! Hope that helps. Good luck for tuesday, waiting to hear

That helps very much. Thank you so much. The bit after the positive and before the viability scan is just awful!

With my first pg I had nothing in the way of symptoms. No nausea, no aversion, no particular physical changes etc. I was a bit emotional and tired but that was it.
That baby is now 14.

uglyface · 09/08/2020 18:16

I had zero symptoms at all until the third trimester (when I was hit with GD and severe carpal tunnel that had to be operated on after baby was born!). Literally not a single symptom. Also IVF, and all fine. That little miracle is currently singing about a banana and rolling around in her cot.

Thanks so much for taking the time to pass on some reassurance, ladies. It does help even if it can’t change the outcome.

With my DS I had zero symptoms. No nausea, no sore boobs, nothing apart from the physical signs of getting bigger and the aches and pains that came with that later on.

Nothing here. To the extent that my dates were 8 weeks off with DS1 and would have been with DS2 if I hadn’t insisted to a sceptical midwife that I was already 12 weeks and I didn’t care when my ‘LMP’ was as my body had had two when I was pregnant with DS1.

(Symptoms with DS2 being slight bloating and a sudden desire to eat banana splits all the time...it was the later that tipped me off that I might be pregnant as it was the main symptom of my pregnancy with DS1 until I was about 25 weeks when I suddenly got a bump).

Sounds like a great symptom to me! Bring on the 🍌 splits!

Having symptoms doesn't always point to good things either though. I had awful nausea and sickness, really painful boobs and food aversions plus really really strong lines on all my tests and yet I still walked around for 9 weeks with a dead Baby inside me

Carabu1 · 09/08/2020 18:59

I’m so sorry for your loss. I think these forums are bad for this, in that people report every symptom under the sun and then blithely say ‘oh well it’s a sign it’s going well’. This makes people without symptoms feel anxious, and my dr told me there is very little actual evidence that morning sickness is linked to better pregnancy outcomes. I am nearly 20 weeks and honestly have had no symptoms, apart from being quite tired during 1st trimester (but then, all sorts of things could make us tired, right?!). So far it’s all going fine, and I feel silly now I wasted so much time worrying and comparing myself to other people reporting all their symptoms! Best of luck - I’m sure it’s fine! X

Hiya OP
How did ur scan go today??

Sallyivf · 11/08/2020 21:00

Hi. It went well thank you. I’m sure I won’t calm down until the 12 weeker but we are one big step closer. Thank you for checking in.

I got zero symptoms at all when I was pregnant until I got a small bump at 25 weeks followed by 3 months of horrific heartburn. Congratulations and enjoy.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 11/08/2020 22:24

Great news :)

sarahc336 · 11/08/2020 22:32

My mum told me after I moaned about morning sickness again during this pregnancy that she felt sick for one day when pregnant with my brother so some women are just lucky and aren't rough as hell in early pregnancy, my friend also confirmed that in her last pregnancy she felt "off" for about 2 days, this obviously made me do this face Confused as imalways really sick but might help to reassure you Smile xx

Rac3693 · 11/08/2020 22:59
