If you were referred to a fertility clinic, how long did you wait?

I have PCOS, endometriosis and have had 3 previous miscarriages so we've been referred to a fertility clinic. We're in the East Midlands for reference.

If you were referred by your GP to a fertility clinic, how long did you wait to get an appointment and start treatment?

I think I'll be started on Clomid initially but we're thinking of booking our dream holiday for September 2021 with another couple. I want to be pregnant by then but also don't want to not book and miss out on the trip of a lifetime Sad

Thanks

I'm West Midlands and it was about 6 months for my inital appointment and 6 month gaps for any subsequent. Chances are they will want to do tests before prescribing Clomid so that's probably at least a year down the line depending on waiting times in your area.

Hi,

I’m in East Midlands. My doctor was bloody useless and took 14 months to refer me. However my hospital have been amazing. I was referred in August last year and had my first appointment in September. Needed a whole load of different tests which were completed by November. Had my next appointment at the end of January and started clomifene in February. I’m now 7 weeks with my first pregnancy. I had an early scan this week and had blood tests during lockdown to monitor my response to clomifene as my first and second cycles worked but then my third didn’t. I had a blood test for my fourth cycle which obviously worked as I am currently pregnant. Honestly, my hospital have been outstanding. Fingers crossed for you OP.

I’m in London. Took forever to get referred. I then waited probably 3 months for the initial appointment at which I was told it would take another 8 to get the tests done on the NHS. We just went private and got on with it instead.

I waited forevvvvver for my go to refer me (midlands). After he did, I waited 6 months for initial appt and then another 4 to actually start clomid. It worked 3rd cycle and I’m now 20 weeks. But yeah, in experience I would def just book - you can’t put all the rest of your life on hold, and if you do it just makes the waiting worse!
