So I went for my 12 week scan yesterday to be told I’m having twins which was a huge surprise. I’m 12 weeks 2 days pregnant and would really appreciate any guesses on what the genders could be, tia 😊

Either male or female . But who know what they'll choose to be when they grow up ! Congratulations!

I guess the sex to be male male. Gender impossible to call.

Morfin · 08/08/2020 08:26

Out of interest are they MCMA, DADC, MCDA?

ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 08:32

@Src3 are they identical or fraternal? If identical they can obviously only be both the same sex. You can only upload a photo of you've been on for a certain amount of time though

Ahh ok thank you, the sonographer found it hard to tell, they're in seperate sacs so that could still be either couldn't it? I have another scan next week so I'm hoping they'll be able to tell me then

I think if you’re new to mumsnet, you can’t upload photos right away. But once you can there is a paper clip image below the text box. So you click on that to add photos.
Congratulations on your twins 😍

I think twin 1 will be a cis non conforming non binary unicorn, but twin 2 will be a non-Penis having fragrance of noir?
Wink
Congratulations OP!

They're DCDA

@Src3

They're DCDA
So non identical, caused because you released two eggs which can be genetic (non id twins can be genetic on the maternal side) so can be MM, FF or MF. Are they your first?
Src3 · 08/08/2020 09:13

Ahh thank you, no we already have 2 boys. It was a shock finding out I was pregnant again and said this would be our last so was extremely surprised when they said twins haha

Are you hoping for certain genders OP? Such as MM, MF or FF? I wish you all the best with babas💞

Src3 · 08/08/2020 09:19

I honestly don't mind as long as they're both healthy. Just curious to know, thank you 😊

Certain sex, she could choose genders for them/they could choose themselves.
bedjolly · 08/08/2020 09:27

They're just babies but ok...

ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 10:05

@Src3 mine are DCDA but there is still a one in three chance they are identical so if you find out they are both the same sex, then you'll have to have the DNA test when they are born. Mine are two girls so will have to have that to be certain whether they are identical or not. A lot of people don't know that though, I only discovered it in this pregnancy, so even with different placentas and sacks they do have about a 30 percent chance of being identical.

Src3 · 08/08/2020 10:09

Yeah I've been reading a lot in to it online and read there's a 1 in 3 chance they could still be identical. Will just have to wait and see if they're opposite genders and if not have a DNA test. Is the DNA test once they're born or can you have it done before they're born?

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 10:40

@Src3 it's done when they are born, they use the cord dna I think, but don't hold me to that! I'm still to find out whether I have to pay or of they'll do it for free. Otherwise you can get a cheek swab any time after birth which costs about 70 pounds, the twins trust do a discount for it if I remember correctly from my last little research into it

puzzledpiece · 08/08/2020 10:57

If you have other children then they are statistically more likely to be the same gender.
