Best time to have private scan (not for gender!)

We want a surprise! So we don't want a gender scan, but we do want a private scan, so the husband gets to see the baby :)
I am 12+3 today and have had my NHS 12 week scan, which I had to attend alone
Just wondering what you all think the best week to book the private scan would be, for the best experience for my husband?
Obviously we'll tell the sonographer to not tell us pink or blue!

30 weeks.
Between 20 weeks and 40 weeks is sooo long that it will feel nice to break it up a bit.

@Cookies47 We went for one at 24 weeks. I wanted to wait until after the 20 week NHS scan got make sure everything was looking ok before going to a private scan as I didn’t want the stress of them maybe finding something then having to wait for the NHS one. Was a lovely experience for myself and DH 😊

I would say sooner rather than later. As the baby gets bigger it makes it harder to see the baby properly on an ultrasound. By 20 weeks I couldnt make out any features on my scan and didn't even bother getting photos. A pp said 30 weeks but by then you won't be able to make out an outline of the baby at all. If its a 4d scan you plan on getting, which is a stronger frequency, I think you can do those later in the pregnancy although i think there is a cut off time. Those scans will focus on the face more.

You can go anytime! Just tell the them not to disclose the sex.

I think they can look a bit demonic and skeletal before 25 weeks but 2d shots would be fine at this age.

If you go about 29/30 weeks you should get some lovey face shots on 4d

Thanks everyone! I'm not sure if I like 3D scans or not, so I'm just deciding what's best :)

I'm having a private scan next week for the same reason, so DH can see the baby on screen. We're not finding out the sex either and I will be 23+6.
