Low energy out of nowhere

Hi

I'm 15 weeks and for the last few weeks, just before lunchtime, I suddenly out of nowhere feel incredibly weak and shaky like my blood sugar has just dropped. I really struggle to concentrate when i get like this.

I have a snack or go have an early lunch, but then I feel like I can't stay awake I'm so tired.

I'm working from home but I'm really struggling to keep my energy levels stable. I'm eating breakfast, an earlish lunch and then a good dinner. I'm not a big snacker but I've been having a biscuit when I get that feeling.

Anyone else? what can I do to help stop this as I feel terrible.

Low iron possibly - have you had any blood tests recently, or due for some soon?

@Shuckle thanks for replying. Could be low iron. I had blood tests at 12+4 at my scan but not had a call from the midwife with any results (apart from my combined screening results which were fine).

I bought an iron spray yesterday which I'm going to try as I can't stomach the pregnancy vitamins at all and haven't taken any iron for ages. I also wasn't eating any meat until a couple of weeks ago as it made me feel sick.

I had low iron in my second pregnancy and it was really noticeable, I was just so fatigued, and it improved easily with tablets. If you are very low, multivits or spray won’t cut it, you need a prescription. I’d expect midwife would’ve called you tho if anything significant a few wks ago.

Have you tried planning a mid morning snack in anticipation of the dip?

I found there were certain weeks when I'd get really unusually knackered. I associated it with a growth spurt and other body changes. Like others have said, rest, eat - you'll probably feel better soon.

The baby grows an enormous amount in the second trimester!

I was told at my 12 week scan that my iron was low from my blood tests so advised to take pregnancy vitamin which included iron and it really helped pick up my energy - only thing is iron tends to cause bowl problems so I gave up the vitamins for a few days and my energy drop was soo noticeable that I have decided to carry on with the vits & iron and suffer elsewhere! Hope your iron spray helps :)

@Merename thanks - I'm expecting a call from the midwife at 16 weeks about blood tests so will ask her about my results and how I'm feeling. I will also put an alarm in my phone to try a mid morning snack. I've never been a snacker so it's really alien to me to eat when I'm not hungry.

@1Bobbinwinder thanks for replying. It's been going on a few weeks now but maybe that's my new normal for the time being!
