We’re booked for induction on the 11th and I’m desperate to go naturally before! My previous two births were also induced, all three due to the same medical issue, but I’m really hoping this will be the one that comes spontaneously before so I can experience it just once!

Let’s hear those stories, because so far I’ve got no signs at all 😂😭

With DD1, I went into labour watching a wildlife documentary with lots of animals being born.
With DD2, it was my due date and I walked to her nursery for a cake sale.

DarcyParty · 05/08/2020 11:50

With DD I was due to be induced on the Sunday, contractions started on the Friday watching Mad Max Road Fury 😁
Went in Saturday night at 4cm and finally gave birth Sunday night at 10.21pm

Bloody typical 🙄😁

@Aroundtheworldin80moves oooh I'm gonna try the birth videos for this pregnancy, although I reckon a cake or two would be a good incentive too 😁

I was induced, had a few sweeps which did nothing then got the pessary. Pretty uncomfortable having it put in tbh, but had an outpatient induction so allowed to go home. Contractions started a few hours later. Waters went 12 hours after that but I never dilated beyond a few cms and ended up with EMCS.

Sounds a bit dramatic but the whole thing was about 24 hours, I had an epidural and got a lovely baby girl at the end of it

GoingBackTo505 · 05/08/2020 12:10

I was booked to be induced on the Monday morning and he arrived at 8pm the evening before!
I'd just resigned myself to the thought that I was going to be induced- was so worried about that though, it hadn't even crossed my mind that I might have to have an induction! Went traipsing round all the shops on the Friday, had a lovely lunch and stopped for coffees and walked round so much. The next morning I started getting contractions! That went on all day and I went to bed and woke up at 1.30am in so much pain I needed to go to the hospital, got there and was only 1-2cm!!! I was so upset!! I thought I'd be having the baby within the hour! He finally came 11 days late that evening and was so worth the wait. There's nothing worse than those days going overdue. Each day feels like a month!!

Me! I was booked for an induction on my due date (was 40yo when I was pregnant), but waters broke approx 1.30am the morning of 39+6, went to hospital at 6.30am. Pain got too much about 9.30, so at 2cm dialated, I had some diamoprhine (its awesome). But at 11am I was rudely thrust straight back to hideous pain and the urge to push - midwife checked - I'd gone from 2 - 10cm in 1.5hrs. It took a while (contractions were too short apparently) so I was hooked up to some syntocinon at 1pm, and with some encouragement from my glorious midwife and bossy consultant, ds arrived at 1.47pm, no instruments needed. Tore a bit, had some stitches, stayed overnight, went home at lunchtime the next day. Apart from the pain (I didn't have any other pain relief than the aforementioned diamorphine - again, its awesome), it was actually a great experience. Good luck!

With DD (second child) was due to be induced on 7th due to suspected obstetric cholestasis (sp?) Went for a walk on 3rd even though I didn’t feel like it, felt a bit backachey. Then has had a (very enthusiastic) sweep on the morning of 4th, did lots of bouncing and sitting on birthing ball, contractions started that afternoon. Had a nap, put DS to bed and then labour progressed. Had her early morning next day.My midwife said she had a very good success rate with her sweeps, it was quite [confusedShock.

FastAndCurious · 05/08/2020 12:27

I went into labour at 6am on the day I was due to go and be induced at 1pm, no prior signs just waking up and my waters broke as I got out of bed!

Best of luck!

Godwinshelley · 05/08/2020 12:30

All 3 were. One broke my own waters squatting to clean a spillage off the floor. Other 2 woke at exactly the same point in the early hours with a light twitch that eased off within a couple of hours. One was then born by the very end of the day and the other by mid-afternoon. Basically once I twinged, birth was imminent.

freckledsloth · 05/08/2020 12:39

Booked to be induced. Received phone call from Labour Ward on morning of planned induction at 8am asking us to come in at 3pm that day. Started feeling slight crampy pains during the morning which got slightly worse as the morning went on. Told DH at lunchtime and we went to the hospital at 2pm still unsure if it was the start of labour or not. Got to induction ward and after initially being dismissed by the midwife who booked us in it was subsequently discovered that I was 5cm dilated. Needless to say we were quickly transferred to Labour Ward and DD arrived at 5am the following day.

Restlessinthenorth · 05/08/2020 12:55

I was literally in hospital to be induced. Without going into too much detail, it because apparent I was constipated. Was given an enema. Literally as soon I was able to go to the toilet (sorry, TMI) I had my first contraction and gave birth with no interventions at all about 40 mins later!

Iknowacrackingowlsanctuary · 05/08/2020 13:06

I was due to be induced on my due date (Monday) because of GD. I woke up on the Friday at 6.30am with slight twinges and losing some plug. Packed DH off to work and went to my Mum’s so she could help me with DS1.
Contractions got worse as the day went on but managed at my Mum’s. DH finished work at 6.30pm so my Dad picked him up and took us to the hospital. Got there at 7pm and was 8cm. Waters still hadn’t broken at this point. Lots of back to back pain but managed without pain relief. Waters broke at 8.10pm and DS2 born at 8.20pm!
Stayed overnight because he needed his blood sugars monitored but we were home by lunchtime on the Saturday.
Then got a phone call on the Monday giving me a time for my induction Grin

carleyemma91 · 05/08/2020 13:07

I was due to be induced on the Thursday and was really fettled about it. Woke up on the Tuesday morning with contractions and had my little girl the Wednesday lunchtime.

Mizydoscape · 05/08/2020 13:22

Here as well. Due to be induced at 37+5 for small baby. Waters went around 11:30 on 37+2 after a bath and baby born 17:09 that evening

Lasi444 · 05/08/2020 15:14

All my labours had no sign and then boom out of nowhere and all quick.

My friend bless her all of hers have been born at 43+ weeks! (She refuses induction as long as baby healthy) but she has zero signs and than bam it starts

Hope it happens for you soon with induction x

difficulttod · 05/08/2020 15:31

DD1 born two days before induction date, five hour labour, I think thirteen days overdue

DS was a four hour labour a week overdue (I wasn't given an induction date)
DD2 was a three hour labour born five hours before I was due to go in with induction. Born the day after her due date

eandz13 · 05/08/2020 16:24

DD1 @ 37 weeks I stood up out of bed in the morning, coughed and my waters popped. Unfortunately ended up being induced anyway as she still hung on in there for a whole day 🙄 6 hour labour once established.

DS2 @ 40 weeks I was drifting off to sleep around 1am, thought I was having braxton hicks as I had tightenings that weren't at all painful. Thought nothing of it at first as "nah, it's unlikely to go on your due date, it's nothing". I was wrong. About 40 mins later I started to realise they were regular and in a pattern. He was born by 3am.

RosieJess91 · 05/08/2020 17:54

I was booked to be induced on the 31st May in the afternoon, at exactly midnight on 31st I sat up in bed and my waters broke. Ended up having him by emergency forceps because he twisted, by 12.47pm. I was already at 10cm by the time I even stepped foot out of my front door, he just got very stuck!

Hope it all goes your way, naturally must be better!! 💗

motherofawhirlwind · 05/08/2020 18:14

I had refused to be induced on my due date and instead agreed to monitoring 3 times a week if I went overdue. The first time I went in (40+4), the Midwife said I was in labour. Oh, am I?, I replied. Went out for lunch with friends, came home, started feeling period pains about 4pm. Waters went at 10:30pm with an audible pop. Had her at 6am.

LajesticVantrashell · 05/08/2020 18:27

Booked to be induced at 41 weeks due to GD. Night before induction started having niggles, assumed they were BH. Kept waking up in the night with more and more intense pains. Full on in labour by 5am. Arrived at MLU 8cm, DS born two hours later, home by 9pm.

weegiemum · 05/08/2020 18:57

Dd1 I woke at 5am with mild contractions and she wasn't born until 37 hours later, with the help of some syn toxin and diamorphine, and gas and air later on. She was OP and wouldn't turn so took forever and was ventouse in the end.

Ds my waters broke at 10pm, he was born at 8:30 am, textbook delivery (though slow to start and then bang! 5-10 cms in no time at all.

Dd2 was induced at 36+6 as I was becoming increasingly unwell - and I think due to my body having done it before, it was very like my second labour - pessary put in early, lots of walking around, 12 hour labour.

All the best for whatever happens - you're going to have a snuggly baby at the end of it!

Bobbiepin · 05/08/2020 20:13

Went to a party, danced all night. Had a Chinese take away the next day and ate ALL the chilies, waters went at 2am, DD born just after 9pm, 2 days before EDD.

toothfairy73 · 06/08/2020 05:34

With DD2 I was booked in for an induction. The night before I was due to go in, I made my husband try and induce me naturally if you see what I mean... he put it in there, he could help get it out. I went into labour in the early hours of the morning. I still had to go to the induction suite as the ward was full and I had a guaranteed bed but I didn't have to be induced. Good luck OP
